I am considering buying this kit and therefore I am doing my research. I am confused by the statement below as Birdman also has a 2013 with the thicker frame and thus why did he not run into the same issue?

I think the extra thickness of the 13 frame caused these issues.

My recommendation would be to contact the ICON rep that responded to my post to see if they have verified the issue.

My only thought would be Birdmans was an earlier 2013 and possibly had a 2012 frame or the frame thickness changed on the production run of frame I got. Im reaching but its possible.

Aside from that the product has performed great, and is cetainly pretty to look at. I would definitely recommend it. Remember my comments were just how they install differed from the instructions. Does not seem to have impacted anything negatively at all. But I dont beat the crap out of the truck either.

Any other question, ask.

We have personally installed a kit on a 2013 and did not have any issues. Yes it is a tight fit, but if loose it would not do its job. Bottom line is we are behind you and stand behind the products 100%. If you were to have some type of major issue Dylan, Kris, & Myself will be there to support you through it. We are always a phone call or email away.

This is the '13 truck we did, which was one of the first besides our own to get a kit. Gary Fries ended up doing the final install after the R&D fitment was completed and the kit was powder coated.

@ICONRep can you get someone to respond on the new rear suspension thread? I tagged Dylan and Eric, not sure if I tagged you. We have questions.

I have a 2013 frame. The ICON support brackets are form fitting to the frame. If they aren't lined up closely during install it takes some convincing to get the bolt holes lined up, especially if you start tightening any of the nuts before all the holes are lined up. In either event, this kit snugly fits the frame as which is one of the reasons it is one of the better kits out there. The tradeoff is you want to save the beers for another install because this one takes some finesse.

In other words, there is no issue. It just takes patience and pre planning to make sure everything is lined up properly. If it's not, take it apart and try again. If you are the type to rush and shit house parts together then definitely set some extra time aside.

Also, the 2013+ frame is the same exact size on the outside. There is additional support inside the frame rail which increases the material thickness, but it doesn't effect the outside dimensions as it pertains to this bump kit install.

Will the sdhq frame reinforcement kit for a 100$ help on the 2014 s for any slight g outs, not massive big hits mind you but for a guy that just got a bit over zealous in the mountains?
