I called the dealers bluff, and it worked perfectly...

So what's the rest of the story? Did you leave the truck there? Taking it back later?

Truck is at the dealer still, second night in a row. They have moved beyond troubleshooting the muffler and are now squarely on target with diagnosing the transmission. They tell me that they have discovered a service bulletin, directing them to add some sort of fluid to the transmission. Should know what happens next, tomorrow by lunch. Hopefully it will be me getting my truck back in working order.

What a lousy tech, are you even required to go to training anymore, i mean come on

Speaking from personal experience: most great tech's get tired of the BS they have to put up with at dealerships, build up a clientele on the side and after 4-5 years open up their own shop. It's a lot easier to be a crappy tech working at a dealership than it is to own and run your own shop.

Just my $.02

Pretty sure that tech used to work at a Chevy dealer in Denver.

Why dealerships always point to an aftermarket part, when it's obviously not the problem is beyond me. Great move suggesting you will buy the muffler !!!!

Most owners are compelled to take their trucks to the dealer because if it is under warranty then Ford can pay for it. The only problem with this logic is that we assume that techs at dealerships know what they are doing. In reality most techs are clueless and incompetent. And Some owners leave a dealership with more issues then when they 1st arrived.

To the OP. You are a brave man. It is obvious they don't know what they are doing. Let's hope you get your truck back in one piece.

They moved my thread to another forum that nobody reads. Problems and questions, where your threads about problems and questions go to die.

They added a fix in a bottle, so...

It sucks, I have no alternatives. Well I could go out of pocket and get it fixed elsewhere. It would work, but I'd rather try to use my warranty. It seems like this must be a pretty rare problem, since no one else on here has mentioned anything about it. I'm just lucky I guess.

I appreciate the words of encouragement. :ROFLJest:

Again, other options are few and far between. It's not like I wished for this to happen. Other than going out of pocket, or going to a THIRD different dealership, I'm doing the best I can here.
