Can't wait to see it[/QUOTE]

I know I'm getting impatient. Every time I start getting enough money tucked away something breaks in the house. Had the A/C crap out on us a few months ago. Dam near could'a linked the rear for what that cost the wife and I. Oh ya, off topic, but congrats on your engagement.

lol... your mythical Raptor? Ok, so that means you dont have a Raptor yet? So you run it with your off road truck or what ever you have...
Done it in a less built truck than a Raptor and a built Titan twice. Hell, we've even see guys do the run in $500 junkers

I know all their cars didn't make it, but we did see several of them in Primm and we were told they did the entire run in the dirt.

Damn, this frame "issue" has all the forums lit up hotter than the clunk!!! Its a ****** deal for those of you involved, but this kinda stuff that people are finding out the hard way leads the path for the rest of us and for those to come. I think Hock and Fordwob are definitely on the right path. Bed weight and extensive shock fade created the problem. Having the bump stop in the middle of a crumple zone wasn't Fords brightest idea either. Hopefully the fix won't be too extensive for the guys with wounded trucks.

Thats the problem when ya got to build a production truck that can handle most of it all and still meet federal crash specs...

I would love to see a SVT engineer's perspective on the cause of the problem. Ford says they tested the truck on a 1000 torture route, so it should have seen some harsh conditions.

Ford Raptor 2010 Review - Specs for Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Ride - Popular Mechanics

the chief engineer even says the truck has been load tested during jumps... so it seems like they looked at the strain on the suspension and frame...

I heard from a Raptor owner that the shop that straightened his frame also did frame work on the test mules in Anza Borrego. If it came up during testing I'm sure it fell within acceptable tolerances. We have to remember the goal was to get the Raptor out at certain price point and creating a new frame design specifically for the Raptor was out of the question. I drive my truck pretty hard off-road with Deavers and I don't have any signs of this "issue." 46,000 miles and counting...

Yeah, there's really not a better place for either the bump stop or crumple zone. But mounting the two directly together makes you wonder what they were thinking. Seems Ford could have done better by making the bump stop mount indirect to the crumple zone like SDHQ fabbed. I sure as hell wouldn't be trying to sue Ford or expect them to fix it under warranty though.

I'm just glad we are only talking about an off-road abuse frame issue and not someone dead from pushing the limit at triple digit speeds in the dirt trying to one-up the next guy. I hate saying it, but if guys keep pushing the truck to that speed and are doing it with out a cage and full safety equipment, a bent frame will be the least of their problems.

I'm all for driving the truck hard and I've been guilty of it myself. I just hope some guys remember this isn't a race truck, and the harder you push the truck, the better the chance you will break something.

Agreed - I haven't pushed this truck to its limits, but i do have a pretty ripped up bump stop on the right side. I have pushed the truck to my limits, and that's enough for me.
I'm learning the little things I want to tweak and modify down the road when shit breaks or just to make it more durable. Just in case...
