FX, that was my first post over there in a long time. I did so because BlueSVT had started a thread and was one of the guys on the run. Damn keyboard jockeys there are enough to never make me post again.

I also noticed that the Z has blocked/censored any mention of this site in relation to links, and even typing the name FRF in some cases... :flipthebird:
It's been like that since day 1

uld still want some boxing done at least 12" on either side of where the factory bump stop is. The frame is only about 4"-5" there compared to nearly twice that under the cab.
If it's made out of metal it can be fixed
Take the truck to a good frame and alignment shop( Dave's Frame & Alignment - Huntington Beach, CA ). Ask the shop what they think, if they dont think its fixable take it to an offroad fab shop and they can and will fix it. As far as the short gussetts go similar to SDHQ, those are easy and shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes to cut and weld for anyone with a grinder and a welder.

If you are going to beat on your trucks knowing the frame is a weak point, you might want to consider boxing in the frame, obviously it doesn't have to be this extensive, but you get the point

In these pic's you can see that both sides of the frame are plated(aka boxed)

I'd guess that probably 50% of Raptors never see dirt on a regular basis, and those that do, only 25% are "normal" off-roading that ANY 4WD could handle, then perhaps another 20% are "jeeping" big boulders and such and then perhaps another 5% actually "race" their Raptor and mod the hell out of it.

So, I'm guessing that this will never be an issue for 75-95% for most Raptor owners...

I wonder IF Ford will actually make a formal recall to have the frames strengthened somehow?

As for me, this will NEVER be an issue as I'm not "racing" or "jeeping"... but if Ford does offer an official recall, I will have any recall work done as it will only help the resale value of the truck in future.

I have yet to post over there, and doubt I ever will... This place is much more friendly to those of us like myself waiting to purchase soon or just considering a purchase. Plus I feel the information here is much more reliant and I enjoy not being censored :waytogo:

I was unaware that they had blocked this site from day 1 either... what a joke!

"So it was bottoming out so hard that it bent the frame above the bump stop?* Is that what happened?

After several emails and calls to Greg, he was actually surprised by this problem. By the looks of it, it is a designed fail point for rear end accidents. By boxing the frame (minimum) and using light racing bump stops should fix this problem. If I was planning to run that hard all the time, it would be time to cage the raptor.

I wasn't on the Outlaw run so I only know about it from what I've read here. That being said, it's only been since then that I've heard of this happening. I know there's a good amount of us on here, and the other forums, that have really put the truck through it's paces and ran it pretty hard, jumps included, stuff that may or may not be "within the Raptor's actual limit's". I would think it would've presented itself by now. My avatar for example, I must've made that jump 6 or 7 times right in a row.....along with all the other stuff I've done, I have not had this happen to me (knock on wood). I can see it happening but I can't figure out why this did happen to every truck on the same run......it just makes me wonder about all the variables involved about this particular run. Just to clarify, I'm not doubting any of you guys that were on the run or Outlaw Raptor or anything, it's just, well, strange.

Do ya think that having a truck load of gear and running that run might have pushed the truck to the limit? Thats knida what I am thinking. People and gear in the truck might have put the truck at its payload limit and then hitting a washout at high speed many times...
