Yeah, there's really not a better place for either the bump stop or crumple zone. But mounting the two directly together makes you wonder what they were thinking. Seems Ford could have done better by making the bump stop mount indirect to the crumple zone like SDHQ fabbed. I sure as hell wouldn't be trying to sue Ford or expect them to fix it under warranty though.

Ya, they do things based on cost and as long as it any failures that happen fall between their requirements its a go. I bet that during the manufacture process for the frame it would cost more to make dies that would punch the holes in different places so they make it uniform side to side... suppliers charge so much extra for things as simple as adding a bend or a staggered hole thats different side to side... As for suing Ford thats a very difficult road to go down unless there is a injury or death...

I'm just curious as to what everyone's definition of "pushed to the limit" means and video would be even better, cuz when I had mine I pushed it really, really hard and Bojangles has just gotten plain ridiculous with his and both were and still are fine...........

I hear that Raptorguy... I've beat on mine too fairly hard but not for 5 plus hours in the dirt on a single outing.

I feel ya,

Thats what makes this so strange. Many of us have beaten the hell out of our trucks with out any real issues. Everyone has their own limits, and from what I read on the other forum, it was claimed a few guys were driving way over their heads. I also don't think its a stretch to say this group found the limits of the truck. When over 75% of the trucks came back with bent frames, I would guess the limit of our beloved Raptors has been found with regards to long pre-runs regarding the stock setup.

What I would like to know is when this started to happen. I.E. how far in did the first sign of bent frames show? How much payload did the trucks with frame damage have, and how many miles were in between rest stops?

All of this would be good for the rest of us to know, because clearly the overall speed pushed the truck beyond is structural integrity.

There's a great 4min YouTube vid of BlueSVT on the Raptor Run thread that is a great example of the rhythm of the run. Here is the link: BlueSVT on Raptor Run

Not all the trucks finished both days... for example, we broke off from the group on the second day near Baker. Right before the last stretch...after about 6 hours on the trail. Great Run!
