MTF, I will do some more testing. Perhaps the springs need to break in. I will let you know.

Wow really!!!
Maybe those General Grapplers have more grip then the BFGs.
Did they put the new driveshaft in yet?

Hey Mike.S, I'm sorry for hijacking your thread I hope you don't mind.

No worries MTF. I may do a driveshaft upgrade some day to. Adam at Stillen says there's a place nearby that does carbon fiber driveshafts.

Hey guys, another update.

I got an X4 and tune from JDM. It's definitely a noticeable improvement. With the Whipple/Ford tune, I would get a slight surging around 1500 RPM in first gear when accelerating. That is now gone.

The truck now holds the gears longer when accelerating and doesn't upshift as early. It also downshifts sooner when slowing down. The shifts are a bit faster than before although they still aren't as firm under WOT as the 5Star tune I had before. It's good, although I wouldn't mind if it was more like the 5Star.

Performance wise, is hard to say. I think I may have gained some HP/TRQ although I won't know unless I take it to Stillen to put it on the dyno. I did a before and after test with Dash Command. Here are the results:

Whipple/Ford tune:

JDM Tune:

Couple things that stand out to me:

1) 0-60 basically identical
2) 0-100 about a half second faster with JDM
3) 1/4 mi only 0.1 second faster

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I may still do the headers and larger throttle body some time down the line.

Has anyone gotten a prefilter for their whipple intake? I'm trying to figure out which one to get.

We need to maintain maximum air flow, a filter sock would be a better option.
Unless that's what you meant.
Anything too restrictive might require a retune for it.
I haven't heard anything yet about someone trying it.

Yup, that should be OK.

I haven't looked lately on S&B website but S&B is the brand of the filter Whipple uses,
It's a really good filter, stands up to water, never had a problem in three years of street driving.
I own two of them and clean and re-oil them when I have time.
