I air down to 12psi in the front and 8-10 in the rear with zero issues. But I hang out in 2wd everywhere

I would suggest 14-16psi. If its dry out you will struggle at 20psi.

Wet sand packs you'd get the quick sand if your in the lake or ocean with the waves moving the sand from under the wheels.

Yes there is a place to air up right outside the entrance to the dunes. It can be a bit of a wait depending on how many people are leaving at the same time. Line for the 2 air stations usually isn't too bad.
