There are things beyond FRF & the internet to offer fulfillment and myriad of cures for boredom.

My thought was always it is Ford's halo truck. Ford should give consumers no reason to have to defend their decision and with so many wanting V8's, it was a bad choice IMO. I passed on Gen 2 for that reason. Price is not a concern and don't tell me how its better in every way because my Gen1 is built way beyond a stock Gen 2 and it's capabilities. 40 more HP to step down to a turbo V6 was not gonna happen. It's still a great truck, but V8 should at least be an option.

There ya go.

Yeah, no. I've ridden in suped up Gen 1s. Even supercharged, they are slower than my stock Gen 2. Sure if you are running a really beefy suspension you'll make up time in the rough stuff, but same thing applies to the Gen 2.

The 3.5 HO is the right engine for our trucks. It is great for daily use, getting way better fuel economy, and is much faster when you get on the skinny pedal. And it is lighter to boot, which is a good thing no matter which way you slice it.

Hardly this place is boring as ****

Such a jaded badass!
Please tell us, how does the rest of the world look from the Big Leagues? Cause you have made it Son! Dayum!
If you're feeling cute later, go down to the home depot parking lot and do some slow victory laps and stare down the rest of the lesser/weaker A-holes. Respect!

I've been reading many of the threads and dozens of articles about the Gen2 Raptor and its TT-V6. Honestly, it took me nearly 18 months to pull the trigger on the Gen2 because of the V6. I have to say that after 1,500 miles in the three weeks I've owned it, I don't really have any problem with it. This after more than a decade in Mopar SRT V8 vehicles. The power and the V8 rumble are not easy to leave behind. (though I still have my 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8), but the numbers are not substantively different.

Over the last few months, there has been more bad news regarding sales and the oversupply of the F-Series truck, and specifically the Raptor. Do you think this has anything to do with the V6 vs V8?

Now there is a rumor of a beastly V8 Raptor in the works from Ford (code name Godzilla/sorry was apparently wrong about the code name...lol). This might be a 2021 or 2022 model to take on the planned 2021 launching of the RAM TRX. There is another rumor of Silverado upgrade with an LS7.

I just wanted to get some feedback from the group on their thoughts...
They are not going to put that heavy 7.3 in the Raptor.

Beaten to death. I’m same as you- came from driving various GM V8 vehicles & now in gen2 Raptor- I’m happy to have a different approach to performance, like the seemingly bottomless pit of TQ & appreciate the whistle of those little snails- makes me feel like I’m driving a “diesel light” lol like you I still get my V8 fix covered w/ my Z06

FWIW - you are only giving up the sound, not power, going from a mopar V8 to the HO 3.5 EB Out of the big 3 Chrysler is the laziest of the bunch in terms of design- sure they keep adding options, dressing up their interiors, throwing blowers on everything etc. but @ the end of the day the hemi in their trucks is like 2 decades old & underpowered/slower than ALL the other 1/2 tons even the *** versions. Your SRT charger is even more dated than the model year suggests, somehow some way dodge is STILL milking that 90’s E class benz chassis they lifted off Daimler during that venture- nuts!

I applaud Ford for constantly pushing the envelope & really reinventing their designs & approach to making vehicles.

I said in another thread- I seriously doubt the V8 will go in a raptor. Ford has clearly shown they are “the boosted car company”- they haven’t made good V8s for quite a while relative to GM/Mopar- the Ford GT is the embodiment of this new approach to performance. Their customer base has already proven the validity of their boosted 4 & 6 cylinder power plants- take a look @ the sales figures for EB vs 5.0 F150:s, forget about the raptor. The 500hp/630tq aviator is another prime example of this.

And all that being said- why the F would anyone WANT a new V8 from a company that has put all their best investment & R&D into boosted 4s & 6s over the last couple decades!?!? Even the badass sounding voodoo 5.2 is essentially a letdown in terms of reliability/durability- not even worth comparing to a GM LTx- and speaking of which, GM sure as hell ain’t putting the LS7 into a truck when they’ve been pushing the AFM/DI equipped LTx/ecotec V8s for the last 5+ years

Good luck to Dodge on their TRX, but I don’t see them making a truck that will beat the Raptor in real world off-road use.
