I've been reading many of the threads and dozens of articles about the Gen2 Raptor and its TT-V6. Honestly, it took me nearly 18 months to pull the trigger on the Gen2 because of the V6. I have to say that after 1,500 miles in the three weeks I've owned it, I don't really have any problem with it. This after more than a decade in Mopar SRT V8 vehicles. The power and the V8 rumble are not easy to leave behind. (though I still have my 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8), but the numbers are not substantively different.

Over the last few months, there has been more bad news regarding sales and the oversupply of the F-Series truck, and specifically the Raptor. Do you think this has anything to do with the V6 vs V8?

Now there is a rumor of a beastly V8 Raptor in the works from Ford (code name Godzilla/sorry was apparently wrong about the code name...lol). This might be a 2021 or 2022 model to take on the planned 2021 launching of the RAM TRX. There is another rumor of Silverado upgrade with an LS7.

I just wanted to get some feedback from the group on their thoughts...

I welcome the competition in terms of the Dodge and possibly the new Silverado. Since 2009 no other truck has been able to come close to the raptor off-road or coolness for that matter. I’m hoping the new competition will keep Ford honest and continue Pushing the envelope And keep prices reasonable.

I’m not sure why there is an abundance of Raptors now compared to the Gen one but I’m seeing a lot more deals than I ever have. Could it be because they produced more yes could it be because a lot of people are turned off by the V-6 maybe. Either way somethings going on because I remember spending hours researching the Gen one and it took a long time to find a good deal. It’s not taking nearly as much effort to find deals this go around.

I've been a V8 guy my whole life and yes was bummed with the idea of a V6 in the Gen II Raptors...But that was the only choice and on paper that V6 looked impressive!...
Got 22k miles on my 18' and gotten use to the V6 and moved on...do I miss the sound and performance of a HO V8?...of course but losing any sleep about it...

Godzilla?....it's not going to be put in the Raptor unless they Turbo/Supercharge it and even more unlikely...I believe mostly because of the weight, and there are Emission averages for Ford to be concerned with...the Godzilla target trucks are F250 and above and not in the same emission class...

Raptor below MSRP?....sure it's several factors and lack of V8 most likely not the sales issue, but over production and my dealers charging at time an insane amount of mark up...plus the "newness" kind of wore off after the 17's where done and now the 18's are done...and lastly the price of pick up trucks has gone crazy for sure!

Perfect engine for future Raptors: 5.2L Voodoo V8 supercharged...just one mans opinion...

You ****** since you mentioned this my truck started rattling on startup, lost power and devalued by $25k! Thanks for mentioning that.... :D:D:D
