What is your average speed on the highway? I'm at about 16mpg right now going about 75-80 consistently.

I am seeing the same thing on mine using 93 octane. 16.1 to 16.2 for mostly freeway driving.

My 6.2L Gen 1 was lucky to get 12 on the same trips.

Higher octane fuel has higher anti-knock properties. The engine has to pull timing in order to avoid detonation when you use lower octane fuel. This is more of an issue with forced-induction engines. Lower fuel economy is a potential side affect of using lower octane fuel, but fuel economy is not the reason higher octane fuel is recommended.

I babied mine on a trip to try and get it over 16 mpg...had been driving for about an hour on the interstate at 70-75 in a 70mph zone. I got free of some traffic and gunned it up to just under 100 to put some distance between me and the crowd...went from 16.3 to 15.1 immediately...lol. Took me over an hour to get it back over 16.

Gas mileage reads 16.4, real calculations are 14.8 on califorina 91.

In Utah where I vacation, I can get 93 ethanol free the real mileage numbers went up about 2mpg on regular driving. But the stuff was about 4 dollars a gallon so....
