Yes. With a spray-in, you can't really "hide" anything. It's going to cover the metal, but any dents or larger scrapes/gouges are going to show right through. The whole reason I want to get the spray-in is to prevent gouges/scratches/rusting to the metal in the first place!

That's the reason almost every truck guy I know, which is a lot, has a spray in liner. Even just camping/shooting stuff and a few Home Depot runs will scratch bare paint. The only guy I know who DOESN'T have one is a guy with a Honda Ridgeline. A few years ago I couldn't drive for a while because of a surgery and I asked him to run me to Best Buy to pick up a new TV. He put down moving blankets underneath and around the TV box so the cardboard wouldn't leave a mark on his bed! :893karatesmiley-thu F*** that shit with a truck.

I just came from a Ridgeline. Mine did have a factory spray in liner. Ugh--I miss the Ridgeline's trunk under the bed.

Bare beds suck because everything slides around. Same for hard plastic drop in liners.

you have more cargo space with your Raptor.. and if you had a trunk like the Ridgeline you'd lose having a full size spare plus cargo room. at the end of the day you bought a truck.. not a FWD based car with a box on the back.

It's not a massive amount of cargo space I need. It was nice to be able to put luggage or a grill or things like that in a lockable partition where they wouldn't slide around. And you can put a full size spare in the Ridgeline's trunk (at least the first generation). That said, I knew this going in--the trucks serve very different purposes and that trunk area would reduce the available suspension travel. That's life.

where they wouldn't slide around

you could do what I did, on my 13 F150 ecoboost I had my backflip tonneau cover and a tailgate extender. that way it gives you a little area where things don't slide around too much plus the hard cover is secure.

do you have anything now? or is the box open to the elements?

I have a Leer 1 piece tonneau and carpeting.

For camping and trips I think I'll get a couple of military or Pelican footlockers and then maybe fabricate something to hold them in place--perhaps to the side so I can still get a motorcycle back there if I want, maybe some RotoPax too. This scrambler project will be done soon and would be nice to use in a lot of the same areas as the Raptor.

That's a Honda Dominator (NX650), which is my Scrambler project. The whole rear subframe is new, new rims laced to stock hubs, aluminum fuel tank, flatslide carb, Ohlins shock, and I installed an Andreani cartridge kit in the forks.
