Drive modes not available error message. Gen 3

So yesterday noticed that after work I couldn’t select drive modes. Got error saying drive mode selector not working. Could change suspension or steering feel either. Got home and 15 min later it was fine. After work today same thing. Any idea on what it could be?

If you don’t have FORSCAN, download it, pick up an OBD link adapter and check for diagnostic trouble codes - DTC’s. I would think something would be stored for this.

Solenoid issue. Front driver side. Dealer has order in since December, part is on back order with no eta. Very frustrating

I am having this exact issue now, but it is intermittent. When it happens, the dampers are set to the highest setting and the ride is super bouncy. Took it into Ford, but of course the issue wasn't happening when I pulled into the service lane.

They sent me on my way saying that they have a 6 day backlog of vehicles to service and if the issue isn't happening now, there is nothing that they can do. Told me to bring it back in when it is happening again. I am sure when it happens I will be near the dealership, right?

Super disappointed in the level of service when you buy the most expensive F-150 they make.

ive gotten this a few times but when i restart the vehicle it has gone away. the last instance was a few weeks ago after bombing through some fields/hills offroad; two restarts did not clear the problem, but on the third restart when i received the message i pushed the exhaust and suspension buttons on the wheels and they started working again.

Check your wires. Mine came loose from where it was attached to the shock and started rubbing which caused it to short out. This is becoming a more common issue I guess.

Just went and checked everything with forscan. One of my ride height sensors was off despite doing a ride height recal not too long ago so i did another. here is the fault that is stored re: losing drive modes

Seems you have a few more issues (prolly related or not) aside from that. Check the HCM & IPMA DTCs to see what’s happening there.

IPMA is related to reverse brake assist needing a recal (did the recal, didnt make a difference. I hate the functionality... truck would often slam the brakes on when backing up my driveway so not bothering with it any further)
the HCM is something to do with loss of communication with a sensor that popped up after i did the glare free mod. I noticed one night that the glare free functionality wasnt working, so i did a restart and back to normal--has been a long time since that occurred so not concerned there either.
