So I took the truck into the shop and what a joke.. I took the shop Forman for a ride I the truck to show him the horrible banging/ explosion sound, I was able to get the truck to make it and also make it get stuck In 4x4. The Forman sad yeah we will fix it. So I left the truck for a week, I go in yesterday and it's just sitting outside. I ask so it's fixed?......

So the guy says.. Oh. There is nothing wrong with it.. Whhhattttt? He says there is some noise when it shifts into 4x4 but that's normal. I couldn't believe it. So I asked him is it normal for the 4x4 to get stuck in gear even though the knob was in 4x2.. He had no answer. He said that ford engineering said nothing was wrong and wouldn't let him take the truck apart. I can't believe this.

So ford sends me a owners manual reference with a highlighted part saying " do not put the truck into 4x4 high or low while the rear wheels are slipping" what does that even mean? I was a dead stop when trying to engage 4x4. So the shop tech says you have to that've the truck in 4x4 before you get stuck, get into sort dirt, or before you need it!!!! Are you kidding me? So don't use the 4x4 right?

There is obviously something wrong and they won't fix it. What a joke, man ford has gone down hill..

I just had my new replacement raptor off road on the beach for a few weeks now. I have used 4x4 over 50 times and NOT ONE NOISE FROM THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM...PERIOD!!!! arejequ5.jpg.

All I can say is video and document EVERYTHING!!! Contact your local BBB they do the lemon law arbitrations.

GOOD LUCK. I could have gotten my money back on my lemon, but THIS IS A BAD ASS TRUCK and I just wanted one that worked. So far I have a WINNER.

I'll defiantly do that.. I already have a few videos on my dash cam of it happening...

Got a questin for you? Ford told me not to put it in 4x4 in soft sand and dirt otherwise the 4x4 would make the noise... When your truck is in the sand at a stop have you put it in 4x4 and drove? And is so any loud banging noise? ..... No right?

You can shift to 4x4 on the fly or at a stop. Just don't shift while on the throttle. There will be a little clunk / click but that should be if. It will take a bit for it to disengage also. 30 seconds tops

What your in doesn't matter. Dirt sand mud, rocks.

I'd try a different dealer

That's what I've always thought....... fords "hotline assistance" said something about don't shift between modes when rear wheels are slipping. To me that means on the gas with rear wheels spinning stuck in soft stuff...

Yeah I think they are bullshitting me... I have another appointment Tuesday, we'll see... Thanks for the help all..

They said the same thing as me. Don't hit it when your on the gas. You'll strip out the hubs instantly doesn't matter if your stuck on on flat smooth ground. Let up shift then continue.

Yeah that I wouldn't do, never while on the gas... Also truck wouldn't come out of 4x4 after shift.. I think it's a vaccume issue.. Or solenoid

If the hubs won't disengage it's vacuum. If it's transfer case it's solenoid. You can check the vacuum with a gauge

BULLCHIT!!!! I used the 4X4 AT LEAST 50 times in sand, dirt and grass and NOT one noise from the system. DO NOT SWITCH while the wheels are spinning is correct. I would drive off the road and into the sand, turn it to 4X4 and wait about 15 seconds and once 4X4 engaged went off the screen good to go. My LEMON did the banging noise ALL the time. DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!!

The cap on the back is from BESTOP and I bought it from Amazon $699 (Bestop® 76309-35 Black Diamond Supertop® for Truck Bed Cover (5.5' Bed) for 04-14 Ford F-150) free shipping. Used it for a few weeks unbolted it from the 4 clamps and put my bed cover back on. Worked PERFECT for vacation and taking the dogs around.
