DIY Flag pole

I made this for Memorial Day will use it when ever I can. 4th of July and so on.

2"x2" square tubing about a foot long drill a hold basically it is a receiver hitch. torch a hole big enough for a 1" pipe weld into hole. I welded a old bearing on top with a old nut welded on to the bearing for the cairabein to attach to if you can find a big enough on for easy attaching to the pole I used a u clamp for now. will keep looking for a big cairabein. spelling

edit: I used flag rope to bottom of flag where the U clamp was it was way quieter and fit over the top of the pole.

I'm going to paint the pole black yet will that be ok? or should it be silver or white?

didn't know if that was legal I've never seen a black flag pole. Don't want to disrespect the flag

I've never heard of anything stating not to use a specific color but you couldn't go wrong with some form of silver. Most poles are either aluminum or wooden depending on the hanging style.
