The IDS Service Routine puts the Vehicle Dynamics Module (VDM) into a training mode, at which point it reads the ride height sensors and records the values.

If the procedure could by completed by simply cycling the ignition, the ride height values would be incorrect each time the ignition was cycled with the vehicle on a hill, with passengers, with a payload, with a trailer, etc.
So if I have eibachs on (assuming the ids service was not done) should I wait until my deavers are on to do this?

Do I just call ford to have it done? Is it expensive?

Interesting. I can see clearly see what you mean. Of course Eibach says no recalibration is needed and most of the owners that do this upgrade do not have any negative effects or perceive them. But by what your saying as fact, means the shocks will not be operating optimally. Could be by a small amount, but still not optimal anymore.

Correct. Even removing and reinstalling a ride height sensor requires the procedure to be performed.

Now if the dealer performs the IDS service routine, can they initially see any faults the system may have triggered or if the sensors are now past there neutral position? Or is it just the case the sensors are not in alignment anymore to the shocks (how small or large it can be) and your just losing performance?

If the system has a fault/DTC, it will most likely not allow the service procedure to run until the fault/DTC is resolved and cleared. If the technician is familiar with the system, he/she may note that the sensor voltage values are out of normal range due to the lift. As far as performance, not sure what the driver may notice, but the system certainly won’t be operating optimally.

Probably would be a good idea so you don’t have to have it done twice. Cost depends entirely on the dealer; some may charge a flat fee, others may charge a minimum of 1 hour at their labor rate. Any dealer can do it; just call and set up an appointment.

Do you have ForScan? There’s a possibility that it may be able to run the procedure; I haven’t personally checked though.

Now I’m curious in regards to ForScan being able to run the procedure. I will have to check and see. But now it sounds as if this should be done to allow the system to work optimally.

I feel like this is not well known knowledge on here. Unless it’s so well known people don’t discuss it. Thank you for the information. Had I not caught the bit about geisers possibly being too long on that YouTube channel I never would have thought to even ask. Thank you for the info.

I just got my truck finally done and had the dealership do the Eibachs just because of whatever had to be re set. Cost $450 so not cheap but got a alignment and first oil change done all at same time while it was there. I put the Deaver M44s on the rear myself a few days ago, these are the HD and +4 which is 2 inches over stock height. No one talks about these but I love them, I carry a constant few hundred pounds of weight in the back of my truck however.

So I finally took the time to connect to the truck with forscan. Here are the settings for the VDM that I see. I haven't been able to find anywhere online of which setting and value to use to issue a re-calibrate. Anyone have any ideas?

That is the as-built config of the VDM.. You're looking for a service procedure to reset the VDM. It would be in a different section of Forscan

I was meaning to do this over the weekend. Never happened. I am curious if Forscan offers a way to do this procedure.

yup, thanks for the tip, there was a VDM reset service procedure. Not sure what it did, but the values in the as-built were the same before and after.
