My 2017 (67k) recently started showing symptoms of IWE issues. I took it in today to have it looked at. The dealer removed the vacuum lines and capped off them per TSB 24-2188.

I’m frustrated as this TSB specifically says it applies to non-Raptor 150s. Instead of identifying the issue with the vacuum system they removed it. I’m going to call the service manager tomorrow to discuss.

I believe they should have pinpointed the issue and corrected it. Anyone else experience this?

@FordTechOne I would greatly appreciate your insight on this issue. What should the dealer have done? What are the potential issues with leaving the vacuum lines capped off?

i think youre better off without them..

ive always been a fan, but a few times shifting from 2 to 4wd results in incomplete engagement and IWE breakage.. Id prefer they are just locked in.. the steering feels the same, and nothing noticeable in every day usuage..

i have some sort of leakdown and partial engagement on the highway so i unplugged the electric solonoid with no issues since vacuum is applied at all times but I'll eventually do the dorman deletes and remove all the vacuum system..

much peace of mind putting it in 4wd and just driving out instead of pussyfooting worrying about hubs..

They tried the same thing with me a couple years ago. Had to point it out to them that it didn't apply to the raptor. Mines was under warranty at the time though.

They should have properly diagnosed and repaired the system. Not sure on long term effects aside from wear and decreased fuel economy, but Ford engineering excluded Raptor for a reason.

I ended up speaking with the service manager and he agreed my truck was not repaired correctly. I brought it back in and they gave me a loaner while they fixed it. The pin point test resulted in a new check value and two new IWEs

Took my 18’ in numerous times and dealership said they couldn’t try anything else, they replaced everything. Scared the ish out of me driving down e-way at 70mph and it started grinding. Sounded like I was pulling a chain linked fence. I read on a previous thread to replace the vacuum hose with FL3Z-3A788-B ($25). Did it in 5min and haven’t had an issue since.
