I was told by a shop that the 6.2 in the raptor is different and they couldn't do it. Don't know specifics as to why. I have a feeling they're wrong but they do a lot of conversions.

You might want to check with a couple of cng shops in OK before you start your process.

See my post here

If I recall what I learned about this when I was contemplating the same exact conversion - before buying a Raptor - the 2 or 3 cng shops I visited with said very similar things. The transmission in the Raptor is different than the F250 6.2L truck - and that spec is one of the issues with the cng kits - and they are not tuned for the Raptor w/ 6.2L + transmission.

Before you jump in too much, check into it.

HTH

just got my se raptor. i had checked these forums for feedback on cng installs. looks like only one guy from texas responded then his truck ended up on ebay. i traded in my 2013 f250 cng 6.2l on this truck and have parts ordered for the install. i live in oklahoma so have lots of fill locations. i'm really surprised there is not more interest on the forum for this. we pay $1.4/gal. think about that next time you put $100 in at the pump, it would be $35 for cng. i'm just saying. saves enough to me to make a car payment. i'd be happy to tell my results in anyone cares

my raptor goes in next week for the cng mod. i went to all the tulsa shops a year ago. there were 6 within 2 miles of my shop. i was looking to add cng storage on my f250. cng innovations was the only one that helped. they also have an oklahoma city shop that does 200 conversions a month. their comment was any light truck except direct injection could be modified. we also discussed the differences between the the 6.2 in the f250 and raptor. still not convinced i waited while a call was made to their "ford service rep". he said no problem. i already own my tanks. one is like the pic in this thread by cngraptor. the other mounts on top of that. my range is an extra 400 miles on cng. the conversion is $6500 because i don't need tanks. in oklahoma we get a 50% tax credit. even the ARE shell gets the credit since the tanks require a cover by dot.

i know this mod isn't for everyone. i expect the two tanks and shell to add 500#. between the tax credit and the added value of the conversion to the trucks value, i feel its a zero sum. but i save $2/gal every fillup. plus my raptor has twice the range(cng plus gas) as it had from the factory.

havana, hope it goes well. I'd really like to hear an update on your conversion, performance etc.

I skipped the raptor and went to a tundra b/c I didn't find a shop that would do one - I think I talked to 3 cng shops, a ford dealer who looked into it, & one cng kit maker specifically for Ford - and they all said 'nope'.

If I understood their reasons, it was for the transmission - not the engine - b/c the f150 6.2l trans was different. However, I really don't know that much on the technical/mechanical side of it - only what they all told me.

So, I'm very interested as the Raptor was the truck I really did want...

Please update as you progress.

my raptor is in having the cng done now. i understand that separate cng injectors are added the the intake. the cng side has its own computer so no mods are made to fords'. the national distributor for this system is in tulsa. i was told today that the distrutor is coming over to do the install himself. I'm supplying tanks. i use two to get more volume(range). i stack them to keep some bed space, but loose visibility out my back glass. the entire bed will be covered by an ARE shell(cab high). these two tanks are 20" an 14" in dia. and about 50" long. it gets me about 36 gga(gallons of gas equivalent).i've seen a couple tundra's in there getting cng upgrade.

Hey Havana, I'm thinking about having this done in OKC. Let me know how it all works out with CNG Inovations.
