I spent yesterday communicating with Tommy Shelly, Internet Sales Manager @ Brandon Ford, and came to a price of $77k on a loaded 2019 Raptor. I was considering trading my Jeep, and was waiting to receive confirmation to either drive it up from Sarasota and trade, or take an Uber and just buy the truck (for cash). As the afternoon turned to evening, I called and texted Tommy that the time was getting late for me to get there with enough time to do the paperwork, etc as they close at 9pm. Tommy's reply was "give me a second and I'll call you." I never received another call or text. So today I noticed on their site another Raptor without the graphics package that I didn't really want on the one that we were discussing yesterday. I messaged Tommy, and asked if they can simply take the difference off the one I found on their site today, I'd drive up now to get it. His reply... "Naw, today the price for that one is $77,500 (more than the price from yesterday's stock # with the $2k in graphics I didn't want). I pointed that out, and he replied "Naw, that one (from yesterday) is now $79,500." Car dealerships and especially car salesmen have their reputation from exactly people like Tommy Shelly at Brandon Ford. The great thing is there are more choices of Ford dealerships, and I'll gladly go to a local dealership that isn't as shady with a check in hand, and write them a positive review.

Did you call him out on it and flat out ask him - what happened that the priced jumped up 2k from what we originally agreed on?

Yep, and he couldn't have made it clearer that "today's" price was $2,500 more. That's ok, I'll win this one! They lost more than that from me not buying from their dealership, along with possible social media reputation damage. I tweeted Ford and they responded to contact them. Not sure if anything comes from it, but it's just a shame to have dealers and ****** sales people play their dirty games. I'm not the only one, and this isn't the only dealer as I've heard several stories of people agreeing to a price, sometimes traveling from quit a distance, and having the ******-balls change the price on them from what was previously agreed to.

It sucks that car salesman Tommy Shelly at Brandon Ford chose to waste a bunch of your time and not go thru with the agreed upon deal.

Tommy Shelly at Brandon Ford sounds untrustworthy and lazy for not returning your call promptly. Maybe next time Thomas (Tom Tommy) Shelly googles his own name this thread will pop up.

It was pretty loaded. Ended up being a little under sticker, which was fine with me, but now I’ll see what other dealers will do end of year.

Sorry for your rough time.

For what its worth, I emailed Brandon Ford last weekend (5 or so days ago) and asked them if they would do invoice pricing on '18 Raptors. I had a few lined up at invoice from other dealers and wanted to save myself the drive. The online sales rep told me he could come down 2k off MSRP but thats it.

So, I went in to the dealer in person on Saturday with two different raptor offers at invoice from other dealers and laid the same offer I wanted via email. They agreed almost immediately and I walked away with a new raptor at invoice.

It sucks the internet rep was so to-the-point, but maybe talking in person would go a little farther. In their defense, I'm sure they get a TON of internet tire kickers and try to be efficient about their internet deals. In your defense, business is business, and that wasnt good business practice.

With that said, I have no complaints about my experience with Brandon. It took being face to face, but it worked out well.

I appreciate where you are coming from. I talked to Tommy Shelly at Brandon Ford (full name reference for the Google bots - haha) over the phone a few times - in addition to emails and texts. Not sure what else I could have said after saying “I’m pushing it for time as I’d be coming from Sarasota, so let me know.” and his reply, I’ll call you in a second (and waited until noon the next day). It’s not like I was trying to steal the truck at a pinch below MSRP, but being in sales, there’s this thing called “lifetime value of a customer,” and Brandon Ford will never get any value from me in my lifetime (God Bless America)!
