That was my experience - $30k to put down from the sale of my JKUR and a price was agreed upon over the phone, my wife and I drive an hour to get to Paso Robles Ford and suddenly everything has changed. This appears to be a sales ploy for those that travel some distance to secure a final deal.Yep, and he couldn't have made it clearer that "today's" price was $2,500 more. That's ok, I'll win this one! They lost more than that from me not buying from their dealership, along with possible social media reputation damage. I tweeted Ford and they responded to contact them. Not sure if anything comes from it, but it's just a shame to have dealers and ****** sales people play their dirty games. I'm not the only one, and this isn't the only dealer as I've heard several stories of people agreeing to a price, sometimes traveling from quit a distance, and having the ******-balls change the price on them from what was previously agreed to.
Thoroughbred Ford in Kansas City, MO, did all they said they'd do and more. My wife and I flew from Santa Barbara to Kansas City and were honestly surprised by the salesman's straight forward handling of the deal. $2k under MSRP.
We had a wonderful drive back to CA and visited family in Kansas and Colorado.
