Yupo, gonna order me up another one soon i think.

I just want to plug that hole that faces out in the picture, and sort out some tubing and see if i cant find a buddy with a 3d printer and do myself up a snorkel of some sort. (it would have to be put together in pieces.

I realy do not want to have to buy my own damn 3d printer.

dont take this the wrong way but you sound like someone who works at injen dude...

I forgot to take pics, was busy with work and what not. :(

I know, I'm starting to sound like Greg about Duratracs. Lol!
I am just amassed about the quality and fit/finish compared to what I had.
I don't care if anyone else likes it or ever buys one, if I am the only one then good makes my Raptor different.

I never said the AFE was a true CAI either, any intake that uses a metal tube isn't as good as one with a plastic or fiberglass tube.

Yes any intake will reach temps ambient to engine bay temperatures, but the metal one will hold it longer than the plastic, and get hotter quicker than the plastic.

Realistically will either make any bit of difference on performance? In a 6k lb 15 second truck....no. But if you want to argue the INGEN is sooooooo much better than others, well it's bogus. If you want to get to the nitty gritty details, it has downfalls as well.

So which cold air intake are you referring to that has the Fiberglass tube?
Aluminum will dissipate heat faster then steel or plastic.
So what are the downfalls of the INJEN? Yes it is so much better then others I have used. I have not used every brand only a few actually so not saying it is the best, but I don't know of any other brand that I would rather have or that seems better IMO!

What are your thoughts on the "ram air" intake? I like the idea for driving on the highway etc. but it seems to be a potential issue for off road...though I guess anything you could suck in here could come through the wheel well too.

I suspect that nice price is with out the $130+ ram ait part too. I was planning to buy it all at once as soon as i get that last little inclination of a supercharger out of my system. I wonder if i could make it work with my twin 72mm TB??? The silicone would have to stretch.

$424 with ram air scoop... Never seen a picture of installed either. I'm leaning to just the standard unit. Maryland Speed price right now is hard to pass up and hell of a lot cheaper than a Whipple!

I would really love to see some folks who have an airraid or AVE open element air filter who have put 10+ miles on their truck do an oil analysis. I have a hunch that there will be a hire amount of silicon/etc in their samples.

(meaning i dont think those filters are nearly as good as people think they are, ESP when you get up there in mileage and dont maintain them)

I have 125k miles on my track car running a K&N or a dry flow filter for over 10 years. Car still makes within 4hp of dynos run at 50k miles. This is within th e margin of error. I would say they filter just fine.

I would run it if my truck only really saw the street, i would be curious to actually see it installed and where the end vent ends up. If it is "covered enough" it probably wont be any worse then the first version of the intake which has a nice big ole opening in the bottom to suck up air, as well as an opening on the sides in the fenders to suck in even more air.

So that being said, i have been up past my door line in water, buried to the doors in mud, and generally not given a shit with the older version and my filter is dirty (whoopsies, was that muddy water i saw on there...) but the intake track and oil analysis comes back SPOTLESS.

Dont doubt that at all, more interested in hard data (think parts per million of silica in your oil) which tells the real story.

I wont even go into the variance that dynos bring into the picture.


For those interested in getting a volant my suggestions are as follows.

1. Get the new version (save your self the pain of ziptieing your hood latch sensor permantly closed).
2. GET THE DONALDSON POWER CORE FILTER!!

For anyone else getting an intake, if you hate the volant for what ever reason get a CAI with the Donaldson power core filter. I am very impressed with the filter, since looking at it after my last water crossing it appears that it did in fact see some amount of "water" on its surface. If it was a cotton/paper dry based filter i think i would have been in a bit of trouble (or at least seen the filter turn to mush). It appears that the synthetic element that they use and claim is "water resistant" does in fact appear to be water resistant. haha again WHOOPSIES!
