I was never a fan of the Volant because of the coolant reservoir that had to be changed, Plus I don't want anything french on my truck.

The coolant tank took about 2min to swap fluid into and is well worth it for the oem look and the performance in my book.

in regards to the last part

So which cold air intake are you referring to that has the Fiberglass tube?
Aluminum will dissipate heat faster then steel or plastic.
So what are the downfalls of the INJEN? Yes it is so much better then others I have used. I have not used every brand only a few actually so not saying it is the best, but I don't know of any other brand that I would rather have or that seems better IMO!

Not any inparticular, but some intakes on the market do have fg tubes on other vehicles.

And yes aluminum may dissipate heat fast, but the engine bay typically isn't a cool environment, so you're better off with a plastic one, and a big reason OEMs use a plastic tube. On my last truck I had an AF1 intake (Air Force One). In cold months it felt GREAT. I definitely noticed a gain with the intake. Once the summer hit though, the truck was a dog off the line. The aluminum tube got so damn hot you could barely touch it, and it definitely sacraficed performance off the line when the engine bay is heat soaked.

Yeah that's what's keeping me from swapping since I don't want any shadow of a doubt with my warranty and I get free oil changes till 45k miles, so I"m going to take advantage of that, so I'm not up for swapping intakes & coolant tanks every 5k miles just for my oil change. But once the 45k is up I'm swapping it out with the Volant. The reason for the tank is the airbox is larger, so they did it for a good reason.

How is a coolant tank swap going to void your warranty, they would have to prove that the swap some how damaged or contributed to the damage of what ever part you were trying to warranty.

now an air filter could be used as an excuse to deny a warranty claim on a blown engine i suppose, even then you could do the leg work/lawyer work to force the issue.

They don't have to prove jack unless you want to pony up and deal with fighting it. Not going to spend the time and money for a lawyer to fight a warranty issue :lol2: Yes I know all about how it works, and I know they technically can't void your warranty just for a mod, but you should know very well how dealers typically like to stretch things and fight things, and I'm not dealing with any fight if anything did start to go funky with the truck while it's under warranty. I'll save the whopping 5 hp I'll get from an intake on a 6,000+ lb truck and keep the stock setup for another 2 years and never have to even doubt anything but full and complete warranty coverage.

I've got a 700+ rwhp 10 second harley truck in the garage, and a 400 rwhp 11 second 5.0 mustang in the driveway as the other daily driver with a tune and intake, I'll survive leaving the Raptor stock for now and not lose any sleep over dropping it's 15.2 second 1/4 mile time to a 15.15 :sunot: I need ONE vehicle with a warranty.

Uhh they actually do have to prove crap if you take them to court that is the point.

Now they can make any buisness decision they want to make be it legal or not. It is up to the other party if they want to (or have the will to) properly deal with that scenario.

I cheat in these matters, i married a lawyer.

:)

And i wont fault your logic on the desire to keep one vehicle stock. I have also felt the wrath of highly tweaked/tuned vehicles not exactly behaving the way you would like them to.

You're missing my point though. I bolded it up top because you even mentioned it yourself. No mods = no need to even take it to court and waste TIME and MONEY. The last thing I want to deal with if there's an engine related issue on my $50k daily driver is a possible fight over warranty.

Don't want to derail this thread though. I've got my reasons for waiting, and plenty of other gobs of horsepower in the driveway to satisfy my need for speed lol. When the time comes, Volant looks to be the way to go

I don't want to mess with the warranty either so no tune and a CAI that is designed and tuned to work with the OEM tune, and one that is easy to swap out when I take the truck to the dealership.

I've had the volant and Injen CAIs for my toyota, the Injen was hands down better quality. The volant gave this weird resonating sound (possibly due to the plastic? idk) which is why I got rid of it and switched to the Injen which worked perfectly for 40K+ miles. Now I'm kinda stuck as to which to get for the raptor, the Volant looks way better IMO, but I can't get over how nicely made the Injen was. Also they do seem to do research when placing the MAF sensor which is a big plus in my book since I don't plan on getting a tune until after warranty runs out.

I am old school and hate plastic performance parts. I work on a lot of Hot Rods and Muscle cars and its a big taboo to put plastic parts under the hood. I feel the same way about my Raptor. If I can find a better CAI then the INJEN I will give it a try, but it just cant be plastic.
INJEN makes a lot of different designs including sealed box types with fine wire mesh for openings, unfortunately only one for the Raptor so far.
