2024 802a into detail for ceramic coating this morning. Check out how thin the body paint is on the truck. Has anyone else seen results like this? It’s pretty concerning to see so thin.

The entire body and bed is less than 1.5mil but the front clip was 10-14mil.

Cool to see the device they use to measure that. All American automanufactures seem to not care about putting the correct amount of paint on any of their vehicles including Ford and their $80k truck.

Yeah… I’ve not seen one either. Will be interesting to see what others say. I’m guessing it’s all pretty consistent results from truck to truck… and i wonder what actual specs are!

The paint on my 24 is SUPER thin. With a bright LED light, I can see the primer through the paint, on the bed sides and roof. Outside in the sun light, it looks fine. But yea, it's super thin.. I was not going to do PPF but I do want to keep this truck for a long time, so I probably will.

What is the usual thickness? Just curious.

On the couple cars I've had my detailer measure it's been 4-10mils.

Note in my original post above, the entire front clip (fenders, hood, bumper, etc) measured 10-14mils on my truck. Just the roof, doors, bed sides, etc are suuuuper low.

I'm guessing cost cutting once again by Ford.

What is the usual thickness? Just curious.

usuallu 2.5 -4.0 ,usually 1.5 is just for the clear ,maybe that gauge is not working correct, but car paints r getting thinner and thinner

1.2 mil is wild. Almost to the point I'd be skeptical. It'd physically be difficult to have that thin of paint through e-coat, primer, base and clear.
