Ford already seems to not like the ADM game, and if they have to start buying back some Covid lemons PLUS ADM, you can bet they'll be making the dealers refund that money back to them, and it further supports their new position of not allowing dealers to add ADM.

I hope this is the future. But ADM isn’t new. I saw it 1988, slapped on an ’87 Buick GNX. Of course, in that era, copping to trying to replicate magazine 0-60 times would be met with howls of ABUSE by stealership service departments.

hopefully OP has this squared away before it turns into a clown show.

I’ve heard of vehicles on showroom floor not behind sold because it’s awaiting a recall repair. Why not suggest they take the parts you need off one of the raptors you said they have in stock unsold at the moment, and fix ur truck. Then They can wait for the parts to come in whenever, but then at least ur back out driving ur 100k truck. At least get the GM of the dealership to pay ur 1st months payment (unless you paid cash)

Although this makes perfect sense to us; the consumer / end user, in the long run it’s not feasible.

To do this, they would have to disable an otherwise pristine, new vehicle. So far, nobody’s with me, right? Now, imagine you’re going to eventually end up with that truck. Not such a good thing any more is it?

The ‘repair’ such as it is, will be logged against the VIN - that’s how parts get ordered, so the buyer of the truck will see or they’ll be able to see what was done to it. There were 3 or 4 ‘repairs’ or actions performed on my ’01 Lightning before I bought it. One was PDI but 3 other encounters with a service department.

How would you react to a turbo replacement on a new truck with less than say 5 miles on it?

Hey everyone, I don't think I've ever started a thread on the internet so here goes.

I purchased a 2021 Ford Raptor on a Friday Afternoon and Picked it up on Monday evening after they did recall, window tint, spray in bed liner and detail. Before this one I had a 2019 and before that a 2018, and drove both of those hard on and off road till approximately 36k miles each.

Wednesday evening I lost some engine power after accelerating farily hard on to the highway at approximately 75 mph. Engine light came on and I slowly drove to next exit and parked. I let it chill for 10 minutes and started it back up and noticed grey smoke and a rattle under the truck so I called roadside. It was Thursday until Ford Roadside 24/7 finally got it picked up.

Dealer told me Friday they were waiting to hear back from Ford for proper procedure and that it was an engine misfire on cylinders 1, 3 and 5? + a random misfire. I assume that was the rattling I heard.

Told me I should have my truck back late Monday if all went well.

Anyway, called Monday mid morning for update and Monday late afternoon and never heard back from anyone.

Started calling first thing Tuesday morning and wasn't hearing back from the service manager. Called sales rep and he said he would get right back to me, but never did. Started leaving voicemails for service and sales higher ups and then all of a sudden I get notifications my doors have been opened, hood opened (didn't know that was a thing), etc. So they hadn't even popped it open yet. Finally late yesterday they call me and tell me turbo shaft was loose and broke the turbo. Told me they would have a new turbo in 6 days, which seems ridiculous to me with overnight shipping and all that is available.

The kicker is the filter and gaskets are on back order with no ship date. I'm told it could be a couple weeks up to who knows how long.

Called service director this morning and he was nice and informative, but couldn't do anything.

I just got the parts list from service director before posting this:

We are currently waiting on 3 backordered parts. The following are the part numbers for those parts.

I bought the vehicle with I think 45 or so miles on it so barely got 50 miles on it before broke. Like I said this is my 3rd one and I've beat the others up pretty hard and never had an issue other than the cam phaser rattle so I'm pretty disappointed.

What would you do, what are my options, or am I just screwed? Dealer is acting like there is nothing they can do and gave me the Ford service number? I was thinking about calling SVT too. Dealer has (2) black and (1) white Raptors on lot, but mine is dark blue metallic, told myself I'd never own another black vehicle and don't like white so don't really want to trade if that is even an option.

Should I be concerned about this engine as a whole? Just bad luck, or bad build?

Also, does Ford really not have a single spare gasket, bolt and filter???? I would think they could pull those from somewhere. I can't imagine there being a lower mile Raptor out of service and would think taking care if this would be very important.

Any input on this would be appreciated.
The other BIG ISSUE that Ford NEVER talks about with the V-6 twin turbo are the fuel injectors. I've had 4 Raptors and every one of them needed the injectors pulled and cleaned about every 40K miles. If you think you are getting peak performance, you are kidding yourselves. The design of the injectors and the ethanol in your fuel will degrade the spray and fuel output. This equates to SIGNIFICANTLY LESS HP. If you don't believe me, pull the injectors and put them on a test bench sprayer and see what they look like. Even with ethanol free fuel, the tiny basket filters and fuel tips plug off with crud. Dirty and un-maintained fuel injectors are a killer to Raptors. Ford can't service and clean them - they will try to sell you new ones.

That’s entirely BS. If you’ve needed 4 sets of fuel injectors replaced at 40k intervals you are using some seriously low quality fuel.

I’d think contaminated or something else going on. The truck will run fine on the cheapest 87 octane you can buy, it just won’t throw down as much power - which itself is a testament to the motor and programming.

@OSURaptor same thing happened to me, under 1100 miles and my passenger side turbo blew. They thought it was an engine valve issue first so they tried replacing that but today they told me it was the turbo.

Looks like I’ll be in the same waiting boat as you. Just to let you know I called ford corporate and told them and mentioned I might pursue lemon law and they immediately hopped on it and are planning to give me an ESP or service contract. They also said they would prioritize the parts to get them to me faster (whatever that means). Anyway might be worth a shot for you to do as well.
