Frames between Raptors and the rest of the F150s are different. Since the beginning they have always been different. Adding extra metal to the bump stop area of the frame is just evolution. All models evolve over time to improve on the original design. Won't make the 10 thru 12 model any less desired because the opportunity is there to improve the frame with aftermarket support. Same frame supports that the 13 will need anyways once pushed hard enough.

According to Hameedi, the F150 frames are all the same. He posted this during one of the chat sessions we had a couple years ago.

Have you done the same for a standard F150?

I still HIGHLY doubt there's a difference.

....and if you're a shop that does this, I find "having to go buy some expensive specialty bits" a load of ********.

.....but I'm not gonna get into the proper use of drill bits.......................

This is why I don't let hackjobs work on my shit.

Hackjobs eh? How about you shut the **** up.
Before you start sayin shit how about you taking a drill and drilling some holes on your roof

Its a band aid to keep weekend warriors from bending the frame easily. For hard core guys additional support will be needed..

-Greg
If we define "bending the frame easily" as overloading past the payload spec, then taking speedbumps without slowing down, I'm with ya. Otherwise again of the many weekend warriors I've run with, only those who wind up having a serious "oh shit" moment to do any damage.

+1. And I hope he pipes up, but Tank actually ordered and replaced his Raptor frame. I *think* he's on record somewhere as saying its the exact same part number from Ford as any other same-sized F150.

It's tough to bolt a sort bed, scab on to anything else but a short bed, scab frame.... What other truck was offered in that configuration by ford in 2010 (or current today) besides the Raptor? Sections of the frame are probably the same, but overall no.

Nope. I don't know a ****** thing. I freely admit I know ABSOLUTELY nothing about ANYthing.

But, since we're on the subject....HAVE you done the SAME thing on a standard F150?

:perkinswhatever:

No I haven't drilled on any regular F150's I was helping out a fellow FRF member to install a light here at my home since I have the tools. The same type of drill bit that would not drill through the roof drilled through the frame and other parts of the Raptor like butter. Just trying to make the point that yes the roof definitely has some kind of super strong reinforced hardened steel in it.

I don't see how it could be the same part number as any other frame of that size when the Raptor was the only one offered in short bed scab configuration. Sure a long bed single cab might be roughly the same size but I have a hard time seeing it bolting since cab mounts and bed mounts are totaly different.
