The only facet the current truck doesn't beat the TRX at is on-road drag racing. Putting a big, super powerful V8 into this platform doesn't make a lot of sense, and requires a lot of hoops to jump through. So, if Ford could make a killing thoroughly trouncing the TRX, why wouldn't they? That's...
I feel like an old Shadow Warrior screenshot is fitting for this discussion....
TRX has the thurst part down fine...not so much the landing gear. Good engineering is not Rams strong suit
As far as actually driving goes, the only advantage is more linear boost. It is the least efficient engine setup (less mpg).
However, installing a supercharger is pretty much as simple as finding a place to stick it and running a belt from it to the serpentine. After all, the idiots at Fiat can...
I never got this argument. The only thing that really stands out about the Gen 1 versus the same MY is the front grille and hips.
The Gen 2 - and Gen 3 - have the grille, the hips, AND a much more prominent tailgate.
I can see any gen coming from a mile away - and at a half mile, can almost...
I was trying to keep it simple, but there are many losses associated with the turbo system. However, you are still recuperating the exhaust losses, so even if you lose A LOT in the turbo, you still get an net gain.
Ultimately Qturbo = W + Qlostinturbosystem (Where Qlost would be everything from...
A turbo engine will always be more efficient.
You are using waste energy otherwise lost - no other engine system does that. By definition - as I've shown - this makes the engine more efficient. When you reduce lost energy in the system the efficiency of said system increases.
Considering your...
Ugh, you guys are going to make me do some mechanical engineering - and thermo/heat transfer at that. I'm a nuclear engineer by degree and trade, so I may make some small mistakes. Feel free to correct me or refer to better material - but overall, the information here should be correct...
Stock SCABs do 5.2s, so if you can save 500ish pounds you'd be awful close. That, or tune a SCAB to the same figures. The stock SCREW does 5.9? So .7 with the weight difference (can't remember if it is 500 or 800lbs)
Hate to break it to you guys, but BY DEFINITION turbo engines are more efficient than NA or Superchargers (which are by far the worst). So assuming you stuck turbos on your beloved V8s, you'd be getting more power for less cost.
My little V6 is much more powerful than my FIL and my...
If you look back 30-40 years ago (so I hear, wasn't alive then) superchargers were the preferred choice for tuners, since it was pretty easy to slap on, and they have a nice linear power curve. Turbos, on the other hand, were complicated to get right, and either gave you a bit of boost early on...
And a number of people who tuned to the same figures have had total engine failures at 100k. I know two off the top of my hand - I touch base with them from time to time. Meanwhile, I know a stock Gen 2 with 130k on it - no issues (10k oil changes) - and that was many months ago. I'd expect him...
I'm not recommending it - and this guy certainly didn't mean to - but you'd be surprised what you can get away with. Supposedly he only broke a few fender clips.
at some point you should write a in depth suspension post to enlighten all of us here. You've got a wealth of knowledge that'd be great to tap into.
People with actual, functional suspension knowledge are few and far between.
Make a YouTube series and id bet you be famous.
The getting power down part is a good point I'd forgotten about. I burned out in normal mode at a stop light yesterday....
The compression seems less soft too, I suspect helped by the live valve. I definitely noticed the suspension was a little more level, but it was still bouncing around a...
Nothing too special, but honestly this should have been part of the reveal yesterday IMO....

EricM is a dumbass. Best to ignore him like RapTerrd.
I'm tempted to make a calendar reminder in a few years for us all to come back and make fun of this particular claim, but honestly he's not worth our time. But then again I do love winning arguments, especially easy ones.
The Gen 2 decals are horrible. The Gen 1, however, had great decals - "digital mud" and then the triangle pattern. At our courthouse there's a blue 2013/2014 with the decal and it always gets my attention.
That hurts worse hearing an engineer talk about it. Can't help feel like he's lying a bit about the SCREW being comparable in performance. Certainly doesn't feel that way in my experience...and apparently the original design team agreed, since SCAB was the only option for the original release...
It doesn't make sense tho. The only cab config that had problems with moonroofs was the SCREW.
They took away the option that worked and left the one that (occasionally) has problems.
Fwiw, the moonroof problems are overblown, at least in regards to offroad induced failures. Seen my Crew...
I knew you and the Rapterd would be here saying stupid shit.
From the press release:
F-150 Raptor has eclipsed the sales of other well-known performance icons. Over the last four years, the previous-generation Raptor cumulatively outsold Porsche’s entire lineup of sports cars and also outsold...
I bought mine with the intention on keeping it as my forever truck. I have a lingering suspicion that the Raptor R will have a SCAB option, but we shall see.
