No way the 3.5 EcoBoost is getting a 0-60 of 4.1 - that has to be the Raptor R time. I've heard from friends at Ford that they are really struggling to get any more power out of the current 3.5L due to turbo speed limits (while maintaining mechanical limits of the different engine components i.e. peak cylinder pressure, turbine inlet temps, exhaust temps, etc). So very likely we will see at best a 10-15hp increase from the Gen2 (imo). Now the R is gonna be a whole new beast and I could see the 4.1sec 0-60 from that easily.
Also heard the Summer 2022 availability is very optimistic for the R, and it might be closer to end of 2022...FWIW
well your friends @ Ford must ******* suck @ their jobs BIG time cuz I tell ya what, order ya self a $500 handheld tune & you’ll be putting down +50-100whp additional over stock on a GEN2 depending on how aggressive/octane. The gen2 has a forged crank/rotating assembly & it can easily handle that- I had a 2018 for 34k miles w/ gearhead tune & it had no issues & it got the same or better mpg
so explain to me how Ford engineers couldn’t EASILY tweak the current 3.5 for more power?
you do realize....they could just be Lazy AF & just tune it for 93 octane, that ALONE would be good for a 25-40whp bump over stock touching nothing else- in fact the stock ecu parameters adjust for 93 octane adding timing & more power
then consider that they COULD be dropping slightly larger turbos onto the last gen 3.5 HO, while adding timing & tuning for 93 only...then turn the boost up a tad- are you soft bro? Wtf do you think they did to get more power out of the same block on the GT? Bigger turbos, 93+ octane only, bespoke manifold, etc - however the GT actually “borrowed” the forged crank from the gen2 raptor EB.
maybe they’ll put the actual GT turbos on it? Either way- my bet is it’ll belt out 500hp/600tq anyhow- probably more.
“bbbbbutt it’s ONLY a V6!!!” Bro- I got this in the garage too, but I’m ALL ABOUT this next gen Ford 3.5 HO EB
maybe it IS the “R” that does 0-60 in 4.1, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the “base” Raptor....I mean, a 500hp/600tq tt w/ 4.10s, a 10 speed & AWD launch weighing probably 1200 lbs less than the TRX, which did 3.8 0-60 right? Sounds like the standard Gen3 weighing WAY less may be good for 4.1 & a 750hp raptor R good for 3.3!! Who knows...even if it’s the R, the eco boost version will be just as fast w/ a tune, & be reliable....doubtful EITHER Ford or Rams blown V8 truck will be able to handle much more Hp over stock
if the TRX
