I’d imagine Ford Performance folks are bashing their head against a wall today wondering wtf is wrong with you all. They gave you a 5 link suspension and no one is even ******* talking about it. I’m learning 8/10 Raptor enthusiasts should not be Raptor enthusiasts at all..... ya’ll just don’t get it.

You're not wrong exactly, but the dealership isn't exactly a free open market. Yes, you have some options and competition, but you have a lot more options when buying gas for example, over buying a vehicle from one of the 3 Ford dealerships in a 50 mile radius. That is changing though, and dealerships are able to appeal to customers much further away...through internet advertising and such.

As well, it's not like Ford can't exert more control over their dealers. Markups can hurt the image of a dealership, but they also hurt Ford's reputation. Other manufacturers in retail due put restrictions on retailers, not allowing them to sell at higher or lower price than the manufacturer wants. No reason Ford cant' do something similar.

This just woke me. :) Most Raptor buyers are melanin-challenged males. That's prima facie evidence of systemic racism. We need quotas. Allocations. Subsidy programs. Of course, if we can self identify as a different sex, I don't know why we couldn't self identify as having a better or worse tan.

The "Raptor R" will be the base Raptor before you know it. The % take on the V6 is going to be laughable.

I knew you and the Rapterd would be here saying stupid shit.

From the press release:

F-150 Raptor has eclipsed the sales of other well-known performance icons. Over the last four years, the previous-generation Raptor cumulatively outsold Porsche’s entire lineup of sports cars and also outsold Chevrolet’s Corvette.

Yeah, the Ecoboost is really killing sales :emotions34:

I know over 50 owners PERSONALLY and the vast majority are perfectly happy with their V6, and either don't care or would not 'upgrade' if it cost more.

Nah. They know what they're doing way better than we do, and know the market. I bet they know how many Raptor buyer's are first time or repeat customers, how many actually have a clue about how it all works or are just dazzled with the mixture of high tech and mechanical sounding words. There are a lot of enthusiasts out there, but most buyers are probably just looking for a cool truck.

This already exists, but not based on race or gender, but climate impact. CAFE standards and electric vehicle tax credits, etc.

$100k plus and 10mpg? Let's see if all the big talkers actually put their money where their mouths are. I predict that the V6 will be huge, the V8 will be a novelty.

Most Raptor buyers want the best they can get from Ford. When a 700 HP V8 is an option, the V6 is not what they will choose, even if it's a $10 to $15K bump in price, which it will be.

The MPG just isn't a factor for a lot of people. They have plenty of money and it simply does not matter. And for those where it is- an extra $500 in fuel per year is not much compared to the priced of buying, insuring and maintaining a $75K truck. I put so few miles on mine- that it makes practically no difference if it gets 10 MPG or 20 MPG to me.

Maybe if gas goes back over $4 a gallon, people will start clamoring for the smaller engine again. Given we are self sufficient for oil now though, I'm not seeing that happen anytime soon.

True, unfortunately. The efficient way to solve the problem is tax the hell out of gasoline and diesel and stand back. Top-down control is beyond stupid. But it worked well in the USSR, so there's that. $5 per gallon gas would sure highlight how efficiently the TTV6 makes power.

There's are darn good chance that's what we'll be seeing with the current President. And there's little chance of that changing course since the response is that higher gas prices just brings us to renewable sources faster.
