You can let the wait for the Raptor R sink in for a while yet pal, just to equal what the TRX is now.

how do you figure when sites like thedrive post reviews stating they prefer the raptor gen 2 off-road to the trx, and the gen 3 is superior to the gen 2. For an off-road purpose truck it seems the trx is already beat by the base raptor

unless of course all you care about is pavement 0-60, in which case, buy a sports car

Equal? The current Raptor is better. The TRX is almost 7000 lbs with 2.5” cheap suspension. No digital dash, no 37’s, no lightweight aluminum one off frame, no 5 link.... shall I continue.

As far as waiting for the Raptor R, that is exactly what I am doing. The GT500 Predator is a potent set up.

You don’t even own a TRX anyway. You are just here to stir the pot.

definitely not a bust, disappointing? kinda.

if there was no TRX most people would have just been pumped to see a shot of the next gen, I know I was excited to see it, not to mention the Gen 3 is better in every single metric over a Gen 2 (except hp and tq, we will see if it is soon though).

my thought of the reveal being lackluster is based on the effort Ford put into the Bronco reveal last summer and now the Raptor, which got a 4 min video with nothing else. lol I had to go to TFL for the press release and watch their video on a breakdown of the truck. that was frustrating.

either way I'm looking forward to driving one.

completely agree. they really botched that reveal. im sure the tens if thousands of people watching it said "thats it" at the same time. the trx reveal was pretty good and ford needs to redeem themselves with the raptor r reveal. i suggested to them they jump it on stage. tfl probably had the best reveal of all.

Total bust??? Completely a knee-jerk overreaction.

For me with a 2020, I'll have to give it some serious thought but even I think this is a definite upgrade in a few key areas. The interior has what looks like much improved material quality improvements which is a bit lacking on Gen 2s; the doors, center console, Sync 4 system, steering wheel and button layout is very cool, the new Recaro seats are awesome it seems like, the upgraded more responsive Live Valve shocks seem to be what the Gen 2 shocks should have been (I'm betting the difference between pavement feel and off-roading between the different modes is much more noticeable and responsive), the rear suspension upgrade and an even further refined HO Ecoboost and transmission. 37" tires default which also means the drivetrain would be beefed up further etc.

Should I go on? Total bust ... you've got to be a bit of an idiot. The Raptor R I'm sure will give everyone the v8 ... which by 2022 I'm sure we'll see a refined and tweaked version of this Gen 3 truck as well. Total bust? lol

TFL had a much more in-depth overview of the truck vs. the Ford teaser video of course.

Also ... proper ride height sensors in the rear with the upgraded front-and rear shocks which should all but guarantee a much smoother feeling ride on and off-road.

The only thing that was a total bust was the actual launch event. I think most people tuned in expecting something like RAM did for the TRX and instead we got a 30 second ad.

Looks are always going to be subjective. I thought the Gen 2 was ugly as sin when it first came out, and I've owned 2 of them since. Opinions change.

Yes, as far as new generations go, this could be called incremental in some ways. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm not 100% sure what some of you were expecting in terms of upgrades, especially when it comes to suspension. The whole rear setup is new. The whole truck is an upgrade in all areas that aren't subjective.

And Ford did not miss their opportunity to compete with the TRX... The TRX concept was shown in 2016 and it took them 5 years to get that to market. Now it's here and look at the hype 5 years later. When they debut the R at the end of this year / beginning of next, the hype will still be there. Will RAM release a redeye TRX to 1 up the R? It's certainly plausible, and if they do great. This 1 upmanship only benefits us as manufacturers compete to put out the best truck they can.

Ah, but those hawt Rigid fogs...

I hear @911 Crazy has set up camp outside the dealer near him and may trade his Prius for the R.

LOL!

yep but somehow his "build" will still take a year for Ford to complete.. even though he's just trading in his Prius for yet another one.

@911 Crazy don't put eyelashes on the next one!

How could anyone call a mid pipe trombone a total bust?

This alone makes it a winner.

Congrats to all the future tromboners.

I actually liked the sound I heard in the TFL video of the new truck. I'll readily admit the sound on the Gen 2's suck, but I don't buy the idea that a 6 cylinder engine isn't capable of great sound. Just listen to any Porsche. Maybe Ford got it right this time?
