I think you'll eventually see the return of a V8 in it, but not in '17, and possibly not even '18. I think you'll see the new GT500 out first, and possibly a gen 3 L, and maybe they'll borrow that powertrain for the latter half of the 2nd gen raptor. Then it's not shooting themselves in the foot coming out with an all new 3.5 TT raptor engine to just a year later come out with a replacement for that raptor engine. I can see them coming out with a GT500 with an ecoboost 8 with more power than the 630 hp ZL1 Camaro just to get back on top for muscle car power wars, and probably top the hellcat just for bragging rights, and then later offering a similar powertrain in the raptor to satisfy all the guys wanting a V8 back in a Raptor.
They do listen to feedback. In 2010 with the Raptor only being extended cab, even though crew cab wasn't as ideal for offroading the public wanted a supercrew, so they made it. And in 2015 when the Raptor was no more, they listened again and brought a 2nd generation back out. Now the buzz is all about wanting a V8 raptor, so I can see Ford delivering that down the road, but not till the V6 TT one has a year or two run.
