The exstra power is what will get you out of a tough spot, it's the difference of being stranded or getting home, yes a v6 would work just fine towing a boat in most situations. Ho ever there might be that one time your passing and ah crap.

gimme a break the v6 will already have more power than the outgoing 6.2, which, years ago many of the 5.4 leg humpers were saying the extra power of the 6.2 was unnecessary....now we're whining the 6 may be underpowered? lol

back to the OP, horsepower kings is a joke. Before that article, they had one that said ford is ending ALL v8 production, truck, mustang, everything, no more V8's at all.....just to generate site traffic & ad revenue. Then they make an article saying this guessed bullsheit? They really have no clue, and whatever they post is just to generate site traffic.

I'm sure Ford has a plan B as far as engines. Consider the fact that the 5.4 Raptors' sales declined the minute the 6.2 was offered in 2010. Ford knew the 5.4 didn't fit the truck's target buyer and fixed it the same model year. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford has to make plan B happen when the 2017 is released. I for one am in a perfect position to wait as my Jeep is leased through July 2018, so 2017 is going to be a see what happens year for me. I know people are going to buy the 2017 Raptors, they're already lining up at the dealers for them, but I think Ford will be shocked at the reduction is sales in comparison to the Gen 1 with 6.2.

They didnt fix anything by putting the 6.2L into the truck over the 5.4L. Simply put the reason the 5.4L was put into the truck was because the 6.2L wasnt ready yet so they had to release it with the 5.4L instead. The 6.2L wasnt a plan B engine, it was supposed to be THE engine but it wasnt ready in time.

If Ford had a TTV8, they would have previewed that in the GT. The fact that their supercar was shown with an EcoBoost V6 tells me they don't have anything. If they did, that would have been the PERFECT place to show it off.

The Raptor really needs a lightweight power plant, and the EcoBoost HO is the perfect lightweight engine (lots of torque down low, big top-end power potential).

:baby:...(Trigger warning ahead, enter at your own risk)...:baby:How about we just throw a Raptor body on this baby and call it a day....why slowly bleed us out? Just pull the damn trigger and be done with it

I didn't realize that was the reason. Thanks for informing me.

Looks like the gen 2 won't be the only American machine getting a 10 speed auto for 2017. Chevy actually did something right and mated it with a real engine tho.. Ford take notes .....

Yeah I'm definitely not brand loyal, I'll buy anything I like, and it definitely won't be the ecoturd.
