Why run a tuner?

Next time I go in for something I will ask more about the diode thing and ask in more detail how it differentiates between the tuner and the ford software.
I remember he did say there is a way to put a new diode in the computer so I may try to get more info on that as well.

I'm sure it has something to do with the way the car reacts when almost finished loading the software, everything flicks on and off a few times and sounds pretty loud. I'm sure Ford's software doesn't do that to the car, but I could be wrong.

I just called 5 star and talked to them. They said the key turns is how Ford tracks it. I know someone said that earlier but wanted to report that info in.

Interesting. Well, whatever it may be, Ford has to be able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the tune is what caused _______ to fail, otherwise, it would be covered. Initially they won't play ball, but after a quick letter/call from an attorney, they'll change their tune and just take care of it (cheaper than stringing it out in court, unless you're an *******, and then they'll take it to court, drag it out, and then you'll be out a ton of money).

Not really. All the have to do is deny you. Period. It's up to you to fight it. These things rarely end up in court. No one wants to spend more on s lawyer than it would take to fix the truck.

Yes and no. It is leg work on your part and working with an attorney, however Ford would still have to prove it. If it's a blown diode, easy, you're toast. If not, it's worth your time and a few dollars to fight.

Side story: I had a kid (parents bought the car) with a brand new M5. It was towed in, had white marker numbers on the windows, fresh burnt rubber on the rear bumper and inside the wheel wells, track slips in the cup holder, and blew out both rear axles. Let BMW know, they asked if there was any evidence he was at the drag strip, provided pictures and the information, and they had a ping on his location from his BMW Assist service call (down the block from the drag strip). They indicated that they'd have to warranty it, as they are unable to prove 100% that it happened at the track, unless there was video documentation to prove/support it happened on the track. Kid got new axles and down the road he went... for 3,000 miles until he burned up the clutch and flywheel :ROFLJest:
