On most newer BMW's, we know it's been flashed as certain things come back as "invalid files." Which, won't be there with factory software.

On my 09 BMW 335 it would record a ghost code that would come up when they scan the computer. You hade to buy a scan tool that would be able to read the code and also erase it.

Even happens when using DINAN software. However, the BMW Performance software flashes through perfect and doesn't leave any trace - as BMW backs their software 100% and it will not affect any warranty repairs, even if it is in relation to their performance tune.

Ok I asked the service manager at my ford dealer again and told him what you guys said making fun of the diode deal.
I asked him how come the diode won't bust if ford programming was put into it in a refresh?
He said that it will accept that programming from ford. The tuner is forced and that causes the diode to pop.
He wanted to show me one but I believed him. He went on to say that when someone comes in with a burnt up piston or something down those lines that ford tells them to check the comp to see if that diode is poped. People will do a tuner on these vehicles and run the **** out of them and he and ford does not want to warrant that. I funny understood that. I wouldn't either.
Bottom line is they can tell if a tuner has been installed or not. Take it for what its worth.
I do want one really bad though. Awesome vendors here have reached out wanting to get me one.

Well I could go back. I didn't want to call him a liar and all and I believe him anyways. There are people here that do not believe it at all and think Ford cannot see a tuner.
If you look at this logically.....do you really think ford would make an expensive truck like that and let the computer be open game? Nothing to protect their warranty? I personally am not stupid enough to sit here and think they cannot see it even if you put it back to stock with a tuner after tuning it.

He was fair though and said that the way he looks at it is if the customer comes in with a problem and the mod has not caused the problem then the warranty will cover it. If the truck comes in with a blown motor at 20,000 miles and it has been tuned then they will not cover it. Plain and simple. I told him I can appreciate that and feel its fair.

Just wondering....if a tuner messed up the motor or tranny, how much would a new motor cost to put into a raptor. Stock 6.2? Also if the transmission blew then how much would a new transmission be?

Depends on if your talking OEM replacement, having them rebuilt, or buying new upgraded/high performance ones.

Yes OEM whats a new motor cost? Stock from Ford. Not all the electronics...just if the motor was worn and needed a new motor.

Just the motor not electronics or labor to swap it all out I would guess 4-6k. I'm sure you could find low mileage ones far cheaper (2.5-4k) or depending on the damage have it rebuilt. I am not sure about the tranny I have heard they are a lot of $$ as compared to the 04-08, I had my 07 fx4 tranny swapped out with a factory replacement for 1800 after core return and got a warranty.

edit rough guess on tranny another 4k

I wonder how many of those diodes are popped on older comps that have never seen a tune? Is this a myth that has been passed around at the Ford garage too? Yeah the diode is bad they do that quite often, I heard from a guy once... Blame the tune. Ghost codes and bad sector things I can see, it's like copy protection on old software. Someone would have to give a little more information about how the tune pops a diode.
