Gas Brands-Costco Whipple tune

I live in SC where we get 93 Octane fuel. I have always bought my gas from Costco the last few years. My other car is a SHO. I have never had any issues with knock in that car yet Whipple specifically says not to use "costco" fuel. Can someone please help me understand what makes branded fuel better? Costco gas employees claim that chevron makes there detergents for them because there CEO wanted all his employees to have the best fuel and to buy from them. If there is the same amount and type of detergents how can the fuel be different from Chevron? Prices are about 40 cents cheaper so $16 dollars per fill up makes me think!

Try it out it's probably not bad. If it makes you feel better, put half Costco gas in and half Name Brand gas in and save $8. That way after a years worth of saving all of that money, you can buy you and your wife a fancy steak dinner with all that savings.

I must have missed it, will plug in and check again.

Did you ever find this?

All I see is an option for “Serial Number” but it does not specify if it is the Tomahawk or Microprocessor??

I just sent in that one after selecting "Serial Number" and yes you are correct it doesn't specify "Microprocessor" but the Tomahawk S/N is on the back of the unit which is different from the one that comes up after connecting.

I was wondering this as well, did some research and Costco as of a few years ago is listed as 'Top Tier' just as Chevron and others. I can't imagine there is any difference as long as you get the higher octane as it's knock we are worried about. Costco will refund your purchase if you are not satisfied I know that, gas included.

Toadster, what's up with the shipping issues at Whipple? You posted last week they'd definitely ship by Wed or Thurs... Then Whipple told me by Tuesday... And here it is almost 3 weeks after they charged my credit card and they haven't shipped anything. Sure some people are getting their packages, but maybe 5-6 have posted that here and there was how many people on the list?

Could you find out more info ? Because this is strange - especially how they have had my money for weeks and have been wrong for 3 weeks as to when it will ship.

there are definitely different tiers of gasoline... we had one of our trucks road-tuned a few years back and the tuner asked if we put shit gas in the tank... we said - yep, Costco premium... he laughed :) (Costco used to not be in the list)

Licensed Brands | Top Tier Gas

they are now surprisingly enough!

Yeah I ended up calling him back, apparently they have no idea when the intercoolers will come in as they ran out halfway through the group buy. It went from a couple weeks ago they were supposed to have them, and now its "maybe late next week"
