What is the best way / jack to use to lift the truck for tore rotation?

I dont want to pull out the factory jack, and my 2 ton for jack doesn't have the height to get the tires off the ground.

What am I missing? This is my first truck ever. I am used to wrenching on performance GT cars.

You're missing a floor jack with enough extension.

I use a 3 ton floor jack under the rear differential, a whole other topic on its own, place jack stands under the rear axle and then move the floor jack to the frame rail indicator arrows behind each front tire.

I have heard so many different opinions about rear diff jacking it made my head spin; I ensure to stay cleay of the diff cover plate and use a 4x4 wooden block to protect the finish (rust) of my diff housing; its the only way short of a lift to get two jack stands as far apart in the rear as possible in order to remove both rear tires for a rotation.

If this is a big no no, I’m all ears!

I have the opposite problem - my floor jack barely fits under my lowered car. I gotta remove the saddle to fit under the side skirt.

To answer your question, I have seen jack extensions for sale. I’ve seen others use a piece of 4x4. If your handy, a piece of aluminum bar would work.

Personally, I prefer to lift from the frame. Not a fan of lifting from the rear diff. I avoid the cover plate if I have to.

I just use my standard 3 ton floor jack with a couple short 2x4s stacked on it. put under the frame rails. For the rear use the axle as a jack point, shouldn't need any wood for that part. My jack is a low profile jack from HF.

If your only use for the floor jack is rotating the tires, you might just as well let the shop do it. It will take quite a few rotations to pay for a good floor jack.
