What is the best way / jack to use to lift the truck for tore rotation?

Lift the rear from the hitch



Its easy enough with a HF 3 ton jack to do it from the sides with an extension too.

I believe that is due to the manual only taking into account using the oem jack behind the seat; not a 3 ton floor jack. I agree that diff jacking with factory jack would be trouble in terms of safety, but would it negatively affect the differential or rear axle?

I always put a chunk of old 2X4 or something between the jack pad and the vehicle, Just to avoid damage to the paint/finish. My 3-ton floor jack used to have a rubber pad but it disintegrated long ago, as someone else said aluminum works too, but wood seems safest to the finish.
