I used to say 5.4 Raptors weren't "real/neutered" raptors until i realized that all the guys who bought the 5.4's are the pioneers. They bought a product that was new and no one knew if it was going to meet the hype that ford was marketing at that time. Those guys made it possible for other years to exist because if they never sold first year trucks I'm sure the raptor would've been a short lived model. Guys with 2012's and up knew what the raptor was capable of but imagine being the 5.4 guy and dropping over 50k on a unproven truck? A raptor is a raptor no matter what year/pkg it has. I've been told personally by other raptor owners that my truck brings back memories of when they first seen them and that once they saw it they knew that had to get one. None of those guys have a truck like mine but at the end of the day they have a Raptor so to answer the question.....As long as the bad boy has that big FORD logo and you can the lock the rear diff in 2wd you have a real raptor lol
