1027pm PST - I have about seven hours in now. A few snags where I didn't have a key tool or needed some hardware. The clips to the wiring harness on this truck were relentless. If it was clean like the ones in the YouTube videos, I could probably blow through this install. Oh well, she's getting there. 20230611_222618.jpg

Wonder how it compares with mishimoto? I have installed a few of those and they seem nice, the full race might be on another level but I get dealer pricing on mishimoto so for my personal rig it would be hard choice.

Yes they do perform better. The Mishimoto's (and I assume full race) are quite a bit thicker, allowing a lot more fins and cooling surface. This is because they are all aluminum/welded. That allows the core to be as thick as the tank. The factory design of crimped on plastic tank requires a flange be built into the core to attach the plastic tank. This makes the core thinner.

The same goes for intercoolers as well. Factory stuff is cheap to produce and fast to produce, the two main things the manufacture looks for.

They are not quick release, they are quick connect. Manufactures have no investment into how fast a fitting can be released/removed. Their investment is in how fast it can be connected and assembled. Also most if not all have a tactile "feel" when properly when assembled correctly, this is so the assembly line worker can "feel" when the fitting is installed correctly because the factory can be loud and the worker can't always hear the snap/click when connected.

Sorry if I am being an ass, 35 years of dealing with those things. Digging dirt out of them (mostly on the frame/fuel tank) to get them to release and you quickly figure out, they didn't invent them for me (the mechanic) they invented them for themselves.
