Dropped it off at the dealership for some service stuff, and on the way out the sales manager grabbed me and asked if I wanted to trade it in, told him no, he then said he could probably get the owner to go north of 60K. Told him I'm waiting for the Focus RS.

A bit frustrated though, the dealership said they could do the mid perch mount, but then they called me back again saying it would void my warranty. Contradictory to what they told me when I made the original appointment. Curious because they did my friends Raptor about 6 months ago.

That's absolute ********! What's next, they're going to tell us not to open the back windows or use the rear defrost? Maybe not roll the rear windows all the way down? Why in the hell would they equip these trucks with shocks that are adjustable and then void your warranty if you adjust them? I'm sorry, but that makes zero sense to me.......

I love Ford vehicles, but these warranty guys are out of control. I think if they told me my warranty was voided because I used something that they originally installed and it damaged something and they told me they weren't covering it, I'd retain legal council and see them in court!!!

They have more money than you do... they'll win. But you're right, technically, the law is they have to show beyond reasonable doubt, that the modification done caused the issue to negate the warranty.

I was out in the farm fields today, looking at one of the wells.

took a picture, and played around with it.

I was surprise how smooth it is over huge rice mounds, pretty impressive suspension most others would have bottomed out.

At least they weren't like the first dealership I took it to. Apparently the tech said "it had been off road", which based on how it had been advertised wouldn't have seemed to have been an issue, but I guess I was wrong. :emotions122: Drove away from there as quick as possible.

Ford released a TSB telling dealerships not to do perch adjustments. I think it was about 4 months ago.

At least then it fits the timeline. Guess they had people getting top perch and then having issues and claiming it under warranty, so Ford backed off.

Great idea!!! How is it held in place? Glued or just pressure?

@2014RubyRed and @punchinpaper:
Glue? NEVER!
It's held in place by design. :)

If you pull the lens off the forward dome lights, you will see that the lens is held in place with a number of "pins" (for want of a better term). I cut slots in the sheet metal so that the forward most pins pass through the slots. That arrangement allows the pins to continue to keep the lens in place, and it also holds the sheet metal in place.

It wasn't hard. I cut the piece of sheet metal to shape with tin snips, and fine tuned the shape with a small file. Bent the sheet metal by eye in a vice, and doggone if my first guess of the correct angle wasn't spot on! The angle is less than 90 degrees, BTW. Maybe 75 or 80 degrees or so.

Already has a top end viper alarm with GPS tracking module, the alarm went off but didn't send a message to my phone which was odd so I figured it was just a neighbor's alarm. Found out later that it was mine, won't be ignoring random alarms again that's for sure. As for the shit stolen value added up fast! Ended up just over $5k in stuff. Should have taken more time and unloaded after getting back from silver lake rather than leaving it in the truck, lesson learnt i guess.

Brutal @t_j you have had some bad luck in the last year. ******* hate thieves

Not sure if this is the current TSB or not, since it is from Feb '14.
