View attachment 135185 View attachment 135183 View attachment 135182 View attachment 135181 So finally decided to have the Thrush muffler highway find/salvage installed to replace the stock as a precursor to my future SS full system. What I can report so far driving from the shop along the city streets is a much better solid sound and louder than stock and nice rumble at idle. Strong and powerful at takeoff as it should have from stock. However, not so loud that is affecting normally conversation or radio. Purposely left at same volume setting prior to installation to compare. Windows closed minor rumble and quiet at cruising speed. Still have to hit highway for finally test. Yes. I was not looking and on the phone when he attached the side pipe and didn’t go below before he spot welded. I really would’ve liked he went just in front of the spring eye not below. The pic makes it look lower than what it really is though. This is just a temp exhaust. However, it does sound really good and does have a racing look vs the street double tail pipes back/rear of the pass-wheel. And since this was a highway find with road rash looks even more badass. Haha haha!

Installed RCI transmission skid plate and mounted the ARB twin compressor in the bed, I will address the wiring next weekend. Side note, the supplied drilling template for the ARB was "slightly off". I say this because I drilled it and then found it out, so I slotted the front mount holes and we are good to go now.

i have the same skid from RCI, plus check out the transfer case one. Together they create a virtual shield underneath.:insane:

Took a 30 mile drive up the mountain to play in the snow. I had 101 miles to empty when we started and the low gas light came on at 61 miles left which its never done before. It dropped to 36 miles left when we parked the truck. Decided to head back and the gas light turned back off but the miles left dropped under 20 and we still had 16 miles to the station. Decided to pull over at a safe spot and call for a gas can. He showed up 45 mins later and I could not find that stupid little funnel anywhere. My truck didnt come with a jack or the funnel. Had to ask a few people in the parking lot if they had one and got lucky. He put 4 gallons in and it said 122 to empty. Got down the mountain and it said 66 miles left. Pulled up to the gas station and it said 110 miles left. Something going on with the pump in the tank? Only 50K miles on the truck

I have the RCI transmission skid too but I don’t like how it doesn’t fully protect the passenger side exhaust right after the CAT. I used to have the HeftyWorks one and it did but I smashed the shit out of it in Baja when I went through Matomi so had to replace it. HeftyWorks no longer makes it. I like the ones from KHC or Foutz Motorsports but they only sell them as a full skids plate option.

You are lucky to have that playground in your backyard (or 30 miles away). How much gas did you have when you left on this excursion. May need to carry extra gas in the future.
Gen2's don't have the same problem as we can get anywhere from 400-700 miles out of a tank depending on driving mode and speed.

I had 1/4 left and I should have filled up. It was stupid of me but I've never had the gauge act like this. When I did pull over a Raptor was just leaving but he didn't have any gas cans. I looked at every Jeep, FJ and lifted truck that passed and no one had any gas cans haha.

Its an incredible drive. You start surrounded by Saguaro cacti and 35 minutes later you're in the Aspens and Pines. They got 30-40" over the past 2 weeks and probably about 50" this season.

Lance Armstrong used to train for El Tour here because it goes from 2,600ft to 9,000ft and you literally experience 4 climates on this route. Ive done the drive in the summer and its 105° at the bottom and 58° at the top. This is at the bottom:

Maybe the angle of the mountain roads causing the gas to move to different areas of the tank. There is a sending unit that has been known to go faulty and send incorrect info on gas left.
