Its an incredible drive. You start surrounded by Saguaro cacti and 35 minutes later you're in the Aspens and Pines. They got 30-40" over the past 2 weeks and probably about 50" this season.
Lance Armstrong used to train for El Tour here because it goes from 2,600ft to 9,000ft and you literally experience 4 climates on this route. Ive done the drive in the summer and its 105° at the bottom and 58° at the top.
I had 1/4 left and I should have filled up. It was stupid of me but I've never had the gauge act like this. When I did pull over a Raptor was just leaving but he didn't have any gas cans. I looked at every Jeep, FJ and lifted truck that passed and no one had any gas cans haha.
