I was rotating the tires over the weekend and I noticed that there was rub marks on the two nubs/ posts or what ever the hell they are called. One of the nubs/ posts is on the lower control arm and the other is on the bottom of the spindle. Are they there for a safety reason, limit the steering angle or to just be in the way. I'm thinking that it this might be causing the steering wheel to violently shake out of my hand while offroading. I dont know if anyone else has experienced this before but I have experienced this on a few occasions. I'm thinking that it is caused when on the brakes and hitting bumps or possible making a left or right turn. It shakes the wheel so bad that I'm not able to hold on to it for a second or two. Take a look at the pics below and tell me if you know what they are.

Yup that's all they are just stops for the steering the only time you hit them is if you have the wheel turned all the way to the left or right these wouldn't cause any kind if violent jerky of the wheel

Ya I just went out there and took another look and seen that they are steering stops. Does anyone else have the wheel shake that I'm talking about. I'm thinking that while under braking and hitting bumps that the tires are overpowering the steering system. Just a thought.

If you're braking over rough stuff, then yeah the steering wheel will shake pretty bad. I'm thinking the Howe pump coming out will help with that.

Ya I seen the Howe pump. I'm not sure but I think the Raptors have a low pressure steering system. If the Howe pump can boost the pressure up then that should solve the problem. When I was on the binders I was at about 70% braking force and hit 3 small sand drifts that where between 4 to 6 in. tall. It will make a ride a little sketchy at 50mph with no hands on the wheel and 2 berms on each side of you. It felt like someone beat my hands off the wheel, there was no way I would have been able to hold on. Luckily I was able to regain control and but the truck where it needed to go.

Yeah the shake can be pretty violent. Over the years I've gotten pretty good at figuring how to manage the brake pedal over the rough stuff without getting into a bad shake. I still get emergency stop situations where it happens though. If I have my thumbs even remotely wrapped around the wheel I pull them away and just cup the wheel because it will hurt bad.
