You can always turn your Raptor on its side and drain the tank out :mrgreen: Shouldn't be too hard out on the trails

I'm told that they install tanks like this all the time. The benefit is there's nothing hanging low to catch on rocks or whatever, and to tear off. The way they handle the drain issue is to attach a hose to the drain valve. This tube has a 90 degree in it that forces it down to the bottom of the inside of the tank. So when opened, any standing water is pushed up the tube and out the valve.

Sounds like a viable solution to me. Sound about right to you Mark? When I get some time I'll pull it out and verify its there and take a pic or two.

I don't doubt for a second "they do this all the time". :(

Could something like an internal drain tube work? Yes.

That said, the style of drain valve in the photo usually has a fairly large "washer" that seals against the fitting... it's almost as large in diameter as the OD of the threads. I don't think you could put a hose on it. (And, the drain valve appears to be closer to the end of the tank than the bottom... so any kind of rigid tube bent at a 90 degree angle would be impossible to install... or it wouldn't come near the bottom of the tank.)

I'd be very surprised if there was an "internal drain tube" in this installation.

I realized after reviewing this thread that the pics don't show the opposite side of the tank. You can see in these pics the bottom port that is being used for the quick disconnect down at the other end of the tank. There's a twin to that port on the opposite side, and it has a drain **** installed. Despite what the guy on the phone said, I'm betting this is what the installer planned for me to use. But even so, you can see that port is well up the side. Not really effective unless I park on an incline before draining.

My current plan is to go with some unistrut and a couple of their pipe clamps. I can rotate the tank 90deg that way, without having to fab up some L brackets (which I dont think I have room for anyway).

PS: I found and fixed the leak (a little Teflon tape works wonders). Soapy water worked like a charm.

Quick update: I found myself at the hardware store today, so I took the opportunity to grab a rubber chair tip "7/8 - 1in" in size. Fits like a glove.

The scorp is a card topper my pops used to use (its a poker thing). He loved the desert, and I don't play poker (much anymore) and I figure why not give the 'ole topper a ride rather than just collecting dust on a shelf somewhere (I'm not big on collecting stuff just for the sake of collecting it). If it flies off, at least it flew off 'on the road' or 'in the desert'... a couple of his favorite places to be in life.

Hey J, how'd you wire it all up? I just got the same system, minus the tank, and was gonna probably do it this weekend. Do you have it hard wired to the battery and did you use one of the upfitter switches?

Heya 'Mech.

No its not hard wired to the battery and yes I used one of the upfitter switches. I was able to just use the upfitter switch, and therefore the Ford OEM relay and Ford OEM fuse; no need to wire anything to the battery since the upfitter system handles all that for us.

The 10007 kit comes with a relay/pressure switch combo unit for use with the tank, and a fuse inline between that relay/switch and the battery. I opted not to use their relay/pressure switch and fuse, and instead I used a simple pressure switch only. I wired the hot of that switch to upfitter 2. Simple and clean, and best of all it keeps all my relays and fuses Ford OEM, and in one central spot.

I would assume you didn't get that relay/switch combo, and that yours came with a separate relay, separate pressure switch and separate fuse? If so, your install should be just as easy as mine was. Set aside the relay pressure switch and fuse, and instead just wire the hot from the compressor to upfitter 1 or 2. Keep in mind the system will demand 19amp peak, so you'll want to use switch one or two only.

You probably have this, but just in case, it should help you figure things out:
