We have been able to get the install of our turbo adapters down to 45 minutes with this stud extractor from O'really. But you will definitely need to purchase our install kit or new studs (P/N W716667-S900) from your local Ford dealer. Still expect 1.5 hour install if this is your first time. Heat is still required but you won't need as much.

Jacob, do you think heat will still be needed with about 2100 miles on the truck? Any chance you can post some install videos or an install post with the steps to do this install? I plan to do this mod, but I want to make sure I have everything needed for the install and that I know the procedure.

Well, I attempted the adapter install this weekend unsuccessfully.

I had HOPED with only 300 miles on it, the studs would back out.

I got the skid dropped and the nuts came off the studs just fine, but I couldnt break the studs free.

The stud tool seemed like it was gonna strip, and the exhaust looked like a super pain in the ass to drop without a lift... I kinda gave up and put it back together. I guess I will bring it somewhere. Kinda disappointed :/

Man, that sucks that it's a pain in the ass, but to be fair, the vendor has shot us pretty straight on that issue. When it's time to do these adapters on my truck, I'm planning on just nutting up and taking it to a shop. Fortunately, a buddy of mine is sort of the shop manager at a local performance shop, so I may be able to get away without spending TOO much on labor...

Oh, absolutely, I am not faulting them at all. A steel stud in a cast iron turbo housing that gets heat cycled a lot will just suck to remove, all day every day, thats just how it is.

I COULD get it out, I just dont feel like ******* with it and ******** around with my brand new truck. A lift and a good torch make this a damn easy job.

Any one in Texas install these at a performance shop? Also how many miles on your truck when you did it. Mines at 2500 miles now. I want to get it done but not up to doing it myself.

Hello Jacob, I had my mechanic tried to install this last week, he was not brave enough to take the factory bold off.. He had a long bar with a 24" handle, and the bold wouldn't budge. He thinks that I need to take it to a muffler shop for them to take the bold off with heat. Now reading your post, I can see that "Heat is still required but you won't need as much". Could you explain that? Does this mean that we don't need to heat it red hot? and would heating affect the internals of the turbo?
Anyway, with the tool "Stud Extractor" do you still need heat? what would happen if you don't use heat?
Please advise, much appreciated.
Thanks
Dj

I feel you bud, I had the same issue at my mechanic shop. My mechanic had a long socket extension with a SNAPon 24+ inch bar attached to the end of it, that translates to a lot of torque. Apparently he chickened out after a few tries... LOL, mine is officially 1500 mi yesterday, and I don't think he was willing to break my new truck.. So now, it's upto me, under NYS law, his shop is not insured to use any form of flame, he told me that I would have to go to a muffler shop to do this. hmmm.... I don't trust Midas Guys.. sorry if there's any Midas guys out there..
