I GUARANTEE it's something to do with low electricity somewhere. Low battery, crappy jump starter/cables that simply can't move enough electrons. These trucks are super sensitive to low voltage.

I purchased an Optima Yellowtop that only lasted 6 months. Went and replaced it on warranty and been running this one for almost 4 years now. Point - Just because it's a new battery doesn't mean it's a good battery.

I would start with a new battery first. Just because it's only 6 months old does not mean it doesn't have a bad cell or something wrong with it. If the issue is still there after that. You can eliminate it being a battery issue. The battery can show a good voltage but not be able to handle any load when applied. In my experience when you get just a click when trying to start. It is the battery. You can hold a volt meter on the battery and try to start it. See how far down the voltage goes.

Man these trucks are so finicky with low power from batteries, I'm on my 4th battery in 6.5 years... I would get a new battery honestly.
The fúck?
I know we’re only exchanging anecdotal evidence and <knock wood> Lucille is rocking a battery from November ’16. And at least 6 of that is with a pair of amps, + between 30-50 amps worth of aux lighting over the years.

My completely unscientific observation is that we are seeing many more battery/charging issues with the Jen Tres for the length of time they’ve been in service. Sure, Jen Too definitely had a few happen- my fav was the guy with the sync screen that would come alive at night; his stealership caught it on in cabin video.

IDK about this. If he does the battery and there is another issue going on, he’s going to trash that battery too.
Starting the truck is, quoting then VP Joe Biden - “a pretty big, fúcking deal”. I still had auto stop/start enabled when I upgraded the stereo and the restart would scram both my amps. I checked and found the voltage dropping to about 9.2 to 9.6v during startup- definitely enough to scram both amps so I disabled the auto stop/start.

of course, at this point it’s looking like he may not have much choice.

battery is good, checked
You know the battery is good, how?
has it been load tested?
if it is good under load...
Codes U3014, U0258, and B108A.
have you cleared these codes? if not, try this.

Any chance BMS is disabled (likely via FORSCAN)? A new battery should need a BMS reset, but not sure about a full discharge and recharge.
What mods are on the truck?
