I'm sure as unpleasant as it is for most there are certainly people paying well over sticker. Just as many are still online 3 years old with 30k plus miles for original sticker or more by private sellers.

Some may think I am full of it....it really doesn't matter. I am sure all of my sales will be mall crawlers at best. The first one sold was to a gentleman who pulled up in a GT3, had a Rolex that probably cost more than my car.

My only hope was to be able to help based on the dealer end. I paid over sticker back in 2007 for the first Jeep Rubicon, and personally bought my used raptor from a customer who needed to get out of his for a work truck (I paid $1000 less than he paid 2 years before and 18k miles....the truck was just something I needed).

My overall goal is to tell it from the dealer side. Profit is only a bad word to the consumer. Limited units generally demand higher prices. If Ford mass produced them year 2 I am sure the butt hurt will be bad. All I do is be as upfront with people as I can. If I get the chance to buy our 6th allocation truck and my owners want to sell for more than sticker I will wait, but I don't care much if it's a few bucks over what I find reasonable. I drove one in Detroit and I am pretty sure I soiled the seat. I have the Roush kit on my present truck so I am sure this truck won't have the performance but it looks so much cooler....or maybe I am telling myself that.

In my opinion an honest deal is letting customers know there is a chance at seriously ramped up production for the 2nd year (which of course will kill their used value) and let them decide how to spend their money. That being said if it was your call and someone wanted to buy it at MSRP and someone else would pay the premium I am sure many wouldn't take the shorter deal.

If I could make a link for the wholesaler in an open post on LinkedIn offering $7000 over msrp I would. Anyone can look here up, Rhonda Hardin at professional locators LLC. Add her to LinkedIn and it's right there on her page. No real secret, but for the doubters, it is in black and white.

I can assure you that 99.986757688877% of the people here will NOT be paying you $2k, $5K, $10K or higher over MSRP for a Raptor. Even with the trucks being in sort of short demand I very highly doubt there are that many idiots, in this country at least that are willing to pay $15k over sticker when you could literally call the next dealer on the list and probably get the truck for MSRP like everyone else here has done. I called two dealers just last week close to my home town to just see out of curiosity what I could get off a truck I ordered and they both agreed to come off MSRP a few thousand if I was serious. If you're selling that many trucks at $10K + over sticker send some of those people my direction, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell them.

ALSO, I'm pretty sure you need to be a supporting vendor on this forum before you start trying to sell in these threads.

I'm not selling anything. How does that make me a vendor? I own a raptor now, and like everyone else here will be getting the gen 2 when it fits my definition or reasonable. Not once have I, or will I offer to sell anyone anything... I even offered as a courtesy spec out a vehicle.

Just simply a glimpse into what is actually going on. For what it's worth, if I owned a dealership I would get more deals out just simply for the allocation. Ford is a turn and earn system.

People seem to be so trigger happy to jump down the backs of anyone offering up real information from the dealership perspective. It's no secret these initial run of Gen 2's are going for well above sticker nation wide.

I can vouch for @F150sales statement about wholesalers trading dealer allocations for way above MSRP. Thanks for sharing your dealerships allocation and pricing status... Helps everyone make better informed decisions.

At the end of the day, there will be some dealers who will gouge customers by charging over msrp simply because they can take advantage of excited buyers, and some that will consider it a fair deal to sell at msrp. When I was looking to order, the first 10 or so dealers I talked to ranged from 3-10k over sticker, and then finally found one who would sell for sticker. To me it was worth the hour of calling around to save the $5k...to some perhaps not. It is what it is....buyer beware.

I don't think anyone is shocked that dealers are out to make the most $$ money they can. That doesn't mean that profit/greed is overwhelmingly accepted. Thankfully there are dealers willing do MSRP, which by the way, makes the ones that aren't look even worse.

I don't find the wholesaler statement even relevant. Truth is (feel free to confirm) that as long as a customer is willing to pay x over MSRP, then the dealer will sell for x + MSRP. IF it makes the dealer feel better that they could have sold to a wholesaler so be it...but they are going to sell these trucks for exactly what they can get for them...wholesale demand or not.

What I meant was really brokers not so much wholesalers but sometimes these guys wear both hats. That being said, brokers are trading allocations from dealer to dealer for way above sticker. So let's say a dealer is already into a truck for $5k over, of course they are going to sell it for more... Which is quite relevant.

Sticker, invoice, a discounted deal…….. Thought this was an enthusiast forum not a channel marketing forum, hehe? Sure some will be upset they have to pay more for the truck. But we all know, as enthusiast, if we the buyer, can justify the price for the newest rig in the desert, so be it. I don’t like the high initial pricing either, but it is what the market will bear. But there are dealers doing invoice or MSRP. Just have to find them! I am guessing there will be plenty of these to go around in 2017 and the markup will fade quickly.
I also get a kick out of the label “mall crawler”. With this trucks intended purpose, not everyone can afford to run the thing at pre-race speed and distance every week, week in, week out. Wear and tear mounts up quick. This in itself pushes a wallet, that’s why you see the guy in the GT w/ a Rolex buying one. He’ll probably flog the thing; he can afford a racing “type” budget. God knows I’ve taken my fair share of rigs from dealer lot, to fab, then track. So let’s not rag on the guys who may want to show off a shiny truck and have it last longer than one or two seasons before having to overhaul/update to stay competitive/in one piece. As for me being from NH, not a lot of room to let the thing breath, so probably some trails, rock crawling, and an inevitable trip to the mall (crawl) to get a cappuccino no doubt. As Jack Roush once said “You don’t become a rich guy racing, you have to be a rich guy to race”

So I'm one of the morons who paid over sticker. I spent 2 weeks contacting dealers across nation. Back in July/August, local dealers were 10k over plus plus. Out of area best I got was msrp and that was a "maybe". Once I add shipping it brought it up. I was able to do $4k over at a local larger dealer and should have my VIN this week. Am I happy about it? No. can I afford it? Yes. I'm one of those who wants the latest and greatest first. Or second. Lol. Ended up just a week after getting a trade value on our '14 raptor, it was hit by a 16 year old girl who bolted through a stop sign. 35k in damage and geico totaled (as did her insurer State Farm). At this point I just want the new raptor asap.

I continue to receive calls from many dealers who I spoke To a while back and most of them are still at $5-10k over. That said, once I add $1000 for shipping I'm really $3k over Msrp comparatively speaking. Should be here by Xmas I'm told. I did have to remove carbon fiber this week as ford specialist contacted my dealer who said commodity is unavailable. Some got it some won't. It was a timing issue for me. I'm excited to build the truck again and await all the lighting and other aftermarket options.

So, as a non-Rolex wearing putz who paid over sticker, this is the very first time ever I have done that. The next closest was the very last new '14 raptor in the country that I paid sticker for. Did I beat myself up over it, YES. But I also knew they held their value well so gave it a whirl and did rather well 2 years out and 18k miles later. The Raptor is a 5th vehicle for us. Our toy so to speak.
