I was parked yesterday and somebody ended up scraping the entire driver's side of her Honda Civic/Accord across my front bumper as she tried to back out of a parking lot. From what I can tell, she ended up doing the following damage to the truck:

  • Scraped the plastic ends of the 'Trim Panel'. Doesn't look like it can just be buffed out in order to get it back to original.
  • Bent the license plate. Not sure if the 'License Mount' was bent/broken in the process.
  • Left a few scrapes in silver paint on the bottom metal part of the 'Front Bumper'. Can probably be buffed out and re-painted.
  • Her side view mirror scraped all along the FORD on the 'Grille' and left some of her paint there.

I'm not sure what the insurance company is going to say, or how much I'll get (based on whether they think things can be repaired rather than replaced), but I'm wondering if now would be a good time to upgrade to a new bumper. I have a few questions related to that:

  1. I have the triple bezel fog light kit with 6 lights in the bumper (I believe I have this one), and I'd like to keep the lights, so I need (want?) a bumper that allows for the lights to be mounted in it. I've seen that most of the aftermarket bumpers relocate the lights that would normally be in the end cap to the middle of the bumper. I'm guessing that's not as optimal a location as having them spread out a bit, but I would assume you can adjust the light alignment a bit so that the floods can properly light up areas off the side of the road, etc, right?
  2. I think the ACC sensor gets relocated behind the grille. Any problem with doing that? Does that require the ACC to be recalibrated, or anything like that?
  3. Do the aftermarket bumpers usually require a new front skid plate, as the mounting spots in the front go away? Or does that still normally work with the new bumper? I'm sure different bumper manufacturers have different solutions for the skid plate.
  4. Because I live in a state that requires a front license plate, what are my options there? I don't really like the idea of mounting it to the skid plate, and I don't like the look of it being mounted off-center as I've seen some others do.
  5. And, now possibly the most important question...as far as the insurance company is concerned, how do I get them to just give me a check for the parts/labor rather than having them pay for the actual repairs to return it to stock?

So I've done a bunch of looking around yesterday and today, and there seem to be 2 main options for new aftermarket bumpers...ADD or SVC. I like the looks of both, I've learned that both come with new skid plates, and both require an ACC sensor relocation bracket.

Regarding the skid plates, I see that SVC offers a raw/unpainted option. Is that just in case I want to have a color other than black, or want to get it Line-Xed, etc?

Does anyone know if the BajaMod ACC Relocation Bracket can be used with the SVC or ADD bumpers? Or for some reason does the BajaMod bracket only work with their bumper? The BajaMod bracket ($100) is quite a bit cheaper than the ADD bracket ($273) and slightly cheaper than the SVC bracket $145).

I've already replaced my stock intercooler with a CVF IC that sits in the stock location, so I'd rather not do a bumper that requires frame cutting, as I don't want to have to buy another new IC. I also don't really "need" that much approach angle, etc. I'm simply getting a new bumper if insurance will pay for a good chunk of it. So, I've narrowed down my options to the ADD Pro Bolt-On V1 or the SVC Offroad Baja Flush Bolt-On. The only downfall I've seen for the ADD is the rust issues that some were/are having here on the forum, and the only downfall I see for the SVC is that it only seems to be able to mount 5 cube lights on it whereas the ADD holds 6 (and I currently have 6, but I think I could go down to 4 as I rarely use the driving lights I have). I'm still unsure what to do about a front license plate holder...

Anyone have any input for any/all of my questions from this post or my previous one? Thanks!

I would get a new grille, bumper and license plate bracket. Neither of those bumpers you posted will hold your fog lights, not esthetically anyway. And they won't provide any protection(for those lights) from that lady if she comes and tries to park inside your engine compartment again. Those bumpers do offer other plus's but that can be a debate later.

I'm guessing that means you don't like the looks of either of these options with the cube lights in them? And as for protection, are you saying that they're not very strong, or that the lights will somehow get damaged?

No, I like the bumpers, thought you were going to put the lights under the bumper ends like the factory look, not in the middle. That looks really good if you're going that route. My apologies if you thought I meant it was hideous, not the case :sorry::sorrysign::sunot:

Haha, no no, there's no way I'd mount them out there again on a bumper unless it was protected. I see how my original message was a bit confusing. Oops!

I'm just looking for a bumper that has mounts for the cube mounts somehow (whether it be in the middle, or on either end like I have them now). But the more that I look at the SVC bumper, I can't tell if the gap is somehow taller than the gap on the ADD bumper, meaning that my cube lights wouldn't look quite right in there. I see that SVC sells the Baja Squadrons with the bumper, and I have Rigid Industries lights. It looks like the Squadrons are bigger than the Rigids, but maybe they just look bigger because you see more glass and less frame on the Squadrons compared to the Rigids.

Icon bumper has spots for cubes. I went with them for that reason and the more stock-like lines. 7A25AE63-1E43-4B02-9F98-1B1C0DE70919.jpeg

What ACC relocation brackets did you guys go with? Are any of them any easier to install than another? I've read that the ADD version is a bit difficult, and looking at the instruction manual, I can see why, what with having to remove the grille. Or are they all pretty similar as far as requiring the same amount of work (removing the grille, etc)?

Had to rig mine due to the FMIC (mounted to the side of it). Wouldn't have been an issue with stock intercooler. Had to disable collision detection (became too sensitive) but other than that it works just fine.
