I think you will be okay, replacing a roof, is not a big deal to a body shop, it's a lot easier with these new vehicles then back in the day when everything had to be welded and full of bondo afterwards. This will be seamless. See if you can't get some pictures of the repair process, will probably put you at ease. Good luck and when you get it back, have fun with it, these are great trucks. Thanks all - appreciate the support & suggestions!
I appreciate the suggestions on sending it back - unfortunately, I ‘owned’ the truck before the trucking company picked it up.
I have the truck at a Ford Certified repair shop that has gone through all of the ‘working with aluminum’ training, so I think they’ll do a good job. They also to all the repairs for one of the area’s largest Ford dealers.
I spent most of the day on the phone with my insurance & their insurance - so it looks like we’re going to go that route. The damage to my rig was quoted out at $9000 - expensive, but not going to be able to declare it a total loss. The work will consist of a new roof, sunroof (both panels & electronics), windshield, high brake light, and rear window panel.
Now that insurance is involved - a DV claim is definitely something I’ve started to pursue. I found a local company online, but if any other CO / Denver-area FRF members have used a CO company, I’d be excited to hear your referrals.
After all the dust settles - will see how I feel about the truck and figure out whether I go and trade it for another.
