My dealer said the same thing when I called. All they do is check your VIN and see if there's anything listed under the VIN. You need to walk in with the TSB which very clearly states any F150 built before the May 15th date. That's what I did and they flashed mine, and it's a world of difference in sport mode.
Thanks for the info. Where would I get the TSB?

you can also ask them to connect your truck to their IDS and check for the latest PCM update. IDS will prompt the tech to update once it's connected. I did the update in house (have IDS for a fleet) and the improvement in shift quality was very apparent. Update only takes a few minutes to process.

The TSB says for 2018, does it cover the 17’s as well? Mine shifts well but if there is better programming I’d love to take advantage. Thanks!

It covers 17's. I had my truck done. Huge differences with my truck after the update.

PM me your vin and I'll run the TSB's on it. I can send you a vin specific TSB that you can take in to the dealer

I'm trying to find out if Whipple needs to work with Ford to incorporate the updates to the factory PCM with their custom tune. The TSB is for 2018 models built before May 15th. Mine had these shifting issues since new (February 2018). I was hoping the Whipple tune would rectify these issues, however it did not. Now after a tranny rebuild, Ford will not update to the newest stock PCM since there is a custom tune on the vehicle.

You didn’t reflash to the stock program before taking it for warranty work? Or you did and they still saw it was there?

Unfortunately one of the downsides of the Whipple programming is that they don't have the system to save the stock tune. I knew this going in, and I actually had the dealership perform the full stage 1 upgrade, so they already knew it wasn't stock. I was surprised today when the dealership called and said the truck is ready to pick up. The tranny rebuild took an awfully long time, and I only had it back for a week when it slammed into gear and threw a wrench light. I dropped it off last Friday, and got a call today with the explanation that the valve body had an issue and it was replaced, the solenoids were recalibrated and right now it is driving better than it ever has. The dealership is saying the original Whipple tune is still on the truck, so I look forward to receiving the updated tune from Whipple.
