I can tell you my friend, if you do any "serious" offroading, your system is not going to be happy before long.

My install set-up was exactly like yours....I made it through 4 Raptor Runs....but then came Havoc in the Hills aka Boulders from Hell.

Tank Regulator got ripped off, tank has huge gash in it and the Compressor took a rock to the head at 50 MPH...it's deader than Abe Lincoln.

My advise to anyone doing this Mod, Bed Mount or like Joe did his or else, it's only a matter of time.

On a side note, I loved it and miss it. I may get a new one, but will install the tank and compressor in the bed next time.

Agree. Also Hornblaster does not recommend putting the compressor pressure switch on the bottom of the tank. It will get clogged with moisture and not work properly.

But yeah I thought of that problem too. It would be really vulnerable under the frame where in the bed it would have more protection

I had made a tool box that fit in the rails for my tonneau cover years ago for my fx4 and after I got the raptor I just the same cover. That is where I mounted my tank and compressor. My tank is only a gallon, works good for the horns but kinda sucks for filling tires. I have quick disconnects for the wires and the air line so the tool box can come out easily. I used a fish tape and ran all the wires (taped and split loomed) and the air hose through the frame all the way to the front bumper, where I made a bracket to mount the horn set right behind the bumper opening. I also have another quick connect off the tool box in the bed for and auxiliary air hose. I used a relay to have it set up so when aux 1 is on the compressor is on using a pressure switch (on at 85psi off at 150psi) and the factory horn button opens the air horn solenoid, when the switch is off the factory horn works normally.


I bought my kit off Craigslist for $300 nut it cost me like another $100 for misc shit. My buddy bought a horn blasters kit for $500 and his is a much nicer set up! Mine are LOUD, his are SCARY LOUD. But I do like the tone of mine a lot better.

I *was* planning to install the tank and compressor on the underside of the truck between the frame rail and the sidestep, but with the tank being slightly wider than the space between those two, I decided against this option. Now it's going to be a quick disconnect removable option so when I need the bed space, I will have it...

The train horns I bought are the Hornblaster's Katrina system. Unfortunately, they come as a single unit with a machined manifold. We had to take them apart...

You know--- I've been thinking since the bed isn't used for conventional reasons (piling up junk, wood, etc in the back) for most of is!! You could always add an extra layer on top of the bed as is to the bed and store things in there- such as horns, guns etc leaving room for all the added racks or took boxes on top of the second layer of the bed plus not risking the underside issues

I was looking at that system on their website, did a search here that led me to your posts.

Where did you end up installing those huge horns and tank?
