This is next on my list to decide on. Has anyone run the Marco horns from Amazon yet?

Yup, I have them. They weigh in about 118db, significantly louder than stock. i still want more, but these things do wake up the BDC’s (brain dead cagers for you non bikers)

Nice! I installed 2 sets of the Hella dual tone air horns in one of my cars. I think Stebel actually made them for Hella. It works well, is really loud, but the tone is more screamer than I would like. I would like them a lot more if they had a little deeper tone. They weren't too bad to find a mounting spot for. What is the tone on your Marco's like? I was thinking about doing the same thing and mount 2 sets of them.

it takes more energy to get high db and low tone. that’s why most of the air horns you see by way of kits don’t have the impressive train horn db ratings.

The tone on the marcos is not quite baritone; it’s deeper than the stock, anemic horn, and louder, but it lacks that basso profundo. It’s not a high pitched squeal. Worth the money IMO.

FWIW, I also swapped compressors to the Wolo, but the Marco compressors made better db, so swapped them back. If you get a 2nd kit, keep in mind the Marco uses 2x direct drive compressors at 20a circuits each. You might as well get a train horn for that draw ;-)

If I did do a 2nd kit, I’d get a different set of trumpets; smaller, higher pitch and a bigger trumpet like the horn blasters direct drive - ninja and I don’t remember the other. That might be a good complement. If I could get up to about 122-125 db, I think that would be a happy medium between getting enough volume to make a cell yakker put down the phone and pay attention vs. the space taken up by a train horn.

OTOH... train horn kit can also double as on board air.

Thanks. I didn't know Horn Blaster had any direct drive. I wouldn't mind dropping the coin for a train horn but it looks like a real pain in the ass to fit them in AND have them not being trashed by the elements here in the northeast. Looks like it's difficult to do both. That's what made me do direct drive on my car, I split the compressor from the horns and you can squirrel them away fairly easy after you fab some brackets.

I was just looking at Hornblasters, never saw the direct drives there. The Ninja and the Musket both look like if you combined them with the Marco you would have a nice horn that you can still tuck away.

What is the quality like on the Marco horns? I got a Stebel Brio in my car and a Nautilus on my bike. Plenty loud and not really interested in a train horn.

Stebel has become obscure in Canada and looking for another option.

BTW, a colleague has Bosch Europa horns and they give a good blast - more like a loud alarm.

Marcos aren’t a high pitch sound, it’s pretty middle of the road, no pun intended. It’s slightly lower in pitch than most car horns, and significantly louder.

I second Marco horns, installed them while I try to figure out where to mount my tank, compressor and train horn setup, but the Marco horns are def the best quick fix for the meantime

mine have been on my truck since 2014. west coast for 3 years. get the salt air. also lived in colorado for 3 years. gone through 3 winters there. system still holds up.

So you have those tucked above the skid plate? What set of horns is that?

its the katrina from hornblasters. it came with 5 trumpets, but i could only fit 3. used the smallest, middle, and largest. still sounds like a train. i had lex motorsports build me a bumper and they put provisions to mount the horn there for me.
